Ivy Quainoo
Ivy Quainoo (born August 25, 1992 in Berlin ) is a German pop singer of Ghanaian descent. In February 2012 she won the first season of the singing talent show The Voice of Germany .
Private life
Ivy Quainoo was born in Berlin-Neukölln as the daughter of a Ghanaian, who left the family before she was born, and a Ghanaian. She and her older sister grew up with their mother in Neukölln. Quainoo attended a Neukölln school up to the seventh grade, then switched to the Schiller Oberschule in Berlin-Charlottenburg , where she graduated from high school in 2011 . Towards the end of her school days, Quainoo attended the stage arts school in Berlin-Kreuzberg for two years . In 2015 she attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, an acting school in New York.
The Voice of Germany 2012
After graduating from high school, Quainoo applied to the German singing casting show The Voice of Germany . There she decided on the group that was coached by Sascha Vollmer and Alec Völkel , the two front men of the band The BossHoss . In the live shows of the show, Quainoo was the only participant in the TV show to be voted on by viewers every time. In the final show on February 10, 2012, she received 33.65% of the combined votes from telephone voting and number of song downloads, leaving the three other finalists behind.
Career
A few weeks after the finale, Ivy Quainoo appeared in the TV shows Harald Schmidt Show and Understand Fun to introduce her single Do You Like What You See . On March 2, 2012, her first album Ivy was released . After its release, Quainoo went on a radio tour and appeared on the music show The Dome . On March 22nd, she was a guest at the Echo Awards 2012 and sang the song Valerie with Aura Dione , Ina Müller , Caro Emerald and Dionne Bromfield in honor of Amy Winehouse .
When ProSieben celebrity boxing presented Quainoo her new single You Got Me before they even at the Duftstars -Verleihung and Sat1 morning TV show singing. The accompanying music video was shot in Copenhagen and released on May 18th. In 2012 she played concerts in Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig, Munich, Stuttgart and Frankfurt am Main on her Germany tour.
On June 7th, 2012 Quainoo performed at the finale of Germany's Next Topmodel and sang her single Break Away . On July 15, 2012, she performed at the Bluetone Festival in Straubing .
For the comedy Mann does was Mann kann Quainoo released the title song “Men Do What They Can” on October 11, 2012 at the same time as the cinema release. For the mini-series Die Tore der Welt she recorded the song Who You Are with Stanfour . On November 16, 2012, Quainoo released their album Ivy as a "Deluxe Gold Edition". In the second live show of the 2nd season of The Voice of Germany on November 23, 2012, she performed her song Who You Are .
On March 21, 2013, Quainoo won the Echo in the category Best Female Rock / Pop National .
On September 6, 2013 Quainoo's first single Wildfires (Light it Up) was released from their second album. She sang this song on the TV show Schlag den Raab . The album of the same name, Wildfires , was released on September 27, 2013. She presented it on the TV show Promi Big Brother and at the award ceremony of the Golden Hen . In October 2013, Quainoo accompanied Olly Murs as a special guest on his Germany tour and received the music award in the “Newcomer National 2013” category at the Radio 7 Charity Night.
On November 29, 2013, she released her second single Atomic , which she sang at the start of the live shows for the third season of The Voice of Germany .
Around two years later, in November 2015, she published a cover version of Mirrors by Justin Timberlake on Youtube and Soundcloud from 2013. In mid-November 2017, she played three club concerts in Hamburg, Cologne and Berlin.
On February 22, 2018, she took part in the TV show Our Song for Lisbon , the German preliminary decision for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest .
Others
Ivy Quainoo shot commercials for the organization I want Europe and the automobile manufacturer Volkswagen . Since February 2013 she has been the new ambassador for the school campaign Together for Africa . In July 2013, Quainoo ran down the catwalk for Rebekka Ruétz at Berlin Fashion Week .
