history

Drummer Paul Kaiser at the Eckernförde Beach Festival 2010

Stanfour was originally founded on the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea island of Föhr as a studio project by the brothers Alex and Konstantin Rethwisch, the producer Eike Lüchow and the guitarist Christian Lidsba. Before the band was formed, Alex and Konstantin Rethwisch spent a few years in Los Angeles , where they worked closely with a film music producer and were already successful as songwriters .

In September 2007 Stanfour released her debut single Do It All , which reached number 46 in the German single charts . Her second single For All Lovers became one of the most played songs on German radio and stayed in the German single charts for 18 weeks. In February 2008 Stanfour released their debut album Wild Life , which was mostly produced in Stockholm and in the band's own studio on Föhr, but also in Los Angeles . Other singles from this album were the songs Desperate and In Your Arms , which made it to number 14 in the German single charts. In Your Arms was later published by Ina Müller under the title Wenn Du Fliegst in German .

Stanfour toured with John Fogerty (2007), the Backstreet Boys (2008) and the Norwegian band a-ha (2009) and performed with Bryan Adams (2008), Daughtry (2007) and the Scorpions (2008 and 2009) on. In the summer of 2010, Stanfour opened the shows as the opening act for Pink at three open-air concerts. The Stanfour tracks Sorry and Desperate , written by the songwriter duo Rethwisch / Rethwisch, were also recorded and published by the American artists Daughtry and David Archuleta .

Stanfour were nominated in December 2008 for the Radio Award 1 Live Krone in the category “Best Newcomer”. In December 2009, the second album Rise and Fall was released , which Stanfour composed and produced entirely on his own. Paul Kaiser on drums and Jazz Echo winner Heiko Fischer on guitar joined the band and the sound has become a bit more electronic, lighter and more danceable. The first single Wishing You Well achieved gold status and, like the album, the top 10 of the German charts. The piece Tired Again can also be heard in a special film version on the soundtrack of Til Schweiger's Zweiohrküken . In 2010 the album Rise and Fall reached gold for 100,000 units sold, making it the most successful album of her career to date.

On September 15, 2010, the band was in the daily soap Good Times, See Bad Times . Stanfour took part in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2010 for Schleswig-Holstein with the title Sail on and took 7th place there.

On November 17, 2011, the founding member Eike Lüchow announced that he was leaving Stanfour. In December 2011 Stanfour took part alongside Nile Rodgers and Seal on the Aida Night of the Proms Tour with a total of 19 concerts in twelve different cities. Accompanied by an orchestra and a large choir, they played Wishing You Well , Life Without You and For All Lovers there . The third studio album by Stanfour is called October Sky and was released on May 11, 2012. The first single was released on April 27, 2012, Learning to Breathe , the video of which reached number 1 on the MyVideo charts. The song Even If was used as background music for the start of the US series Touch .

On August 28, 2015 Stanfour released their fourth studio album IIII .

In April 2016 they supported a-ha on their Cast in Steel tour. A tour through Germany followed in the summer of 2016 for the album released in 2015. On September 23, 2016, the band released a best-of album called Fireworks , which also includes the newly recorded song of the same name and the single Hearts Without A Home .
