The sixth Bundesvision Song Contest took place on October 1st in the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin , the hometown of the previous year's winner Peter Fox .

On May 31, the Monday after the Eurovision Song Contest , initiator Stefan Raab announced the participants on the homepage of his TV program .

The winner with 164 points was Unheilig for North Rhine-Westphalia with the title Under Your Flag . Second place went to the band Silly , who played for Saxony-Anhalt, with the title Alles Rot . Both bands formed a top group that clearly stood out from all other bands in terms of points (more than 50 points behind the third-placed). It is noteworthy that Unheilig was ahead of Silly in all of the old federal states , while Silly, which was already known in the GDR, performed better in all of the new federal states (including Berlin). Overall, Silly received the highest number of points to date of all runners-up and more points than the winning bands from 2006 to 2008.

In 2011 the Bundesvision Song Contest took place for the second time in North Rhine-Westphalia, where the first edition was held in 2005. Since Berlin took third place with Ich + Ich and the title Yasmine , they continue to lead the “eternal” ranking of the competition. Bernd Begemann and Dirk Darmstaedter , who competed for Lower Saxony, achieved the worst result in the history of the competition with four points. The song was sung by Freddy Quinn, one of the two German contributions to the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 in Lugano .
