After marrying his Swedish friend Anna (she was an au pair in Germany at the time), he did civil service as a mobile social helper in Hamburg-Uhlenhorst in 1992 and founded the formation Selig , with whom he signed a record deal with Epic / Sony Music in 1993. In 2002 his own CD was released, followed by a tour, guest appearances at Keimzeit and Soulounge followed in 2003, as well as the formation of the band Zinoba , in which other former Selig musicians were also involved.

In 2004 Jan Plewka founded the band TempEau together with the actors Marek Harloff and Stephan Eggert . In 2005 the tour Jan Plewka sings Rio Reiser started , which has been repeated since 2007.
