Ilse DeLange (2018)

Ilse DeLange (* 13. May 1977 as Ilse de Lange Annoeska in Almelo ) is a Dutch singer .

Career

She had her breakthrough in 1998 with her debut album World of Hurt . The successful country music album was recorded in Nashville , reached number 1 on the album charts and stayed in the top 100 for over two and a half years. DeLange became very well known in the Netherlands; however, their efforts to assert themselves in the United States were in vain.

In 2004 she sang a duet with Zucchero and received an Edison for best Dutch singer. Armin van Buuren produced a remix of The Great Escape, which was among the top 20 best trance productions of 2007 on his show A State of Trance . In 2006 she was allowed to place the first domino on Domino Day , which was held annually in the Netherlands at that time .

In 2008 her fifth studio album Incredible was released, the song Miracle her first number one hit in the top 40 singles charts. The album itself and the album Live in Ahoy (with recordings from a concert at Ahoy in Rotterdam) the following year became their number one albums four and five. In May 2014 DeLange represented together with Waylon as The Common Linnets (Die Bluthänflinge ) the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen; she took second place there with 238 points behind Conchita Wurst .

In 2013 and 2014 she acted as a coach in the 4th and 5th season of the TV reality competition The Voice of Holland (RTL). In 2017 she acted alongside Johannes Oerding , Katie Melua , Jennifer Weist , Philipp Poisel , Ray Cooper and Tony Carey as a singer at the MTV Unplugged Concert by Peter Maffay . In 2018 she had a role as a vocal coach on the American television series Nashville .

She is a participant in the 7th season of Sing my song - The exchange concert . Also in the season are Max Giesinger , Nico Santos , MoTrip , LEA , Jan Plewka and Michael Patrick Kelly as moderators. In 2020 she took part in the Free European Song Contest for the Netherlands and reached second place. In addition to her native Dutch , DeLange speaks German and fluent English .
