Sing my song - The Exchange Concert is a TV show that has been broadcast by VOX since April 2014 . It is based on the Dutch program De beste zangers van Nederland , which has been shown by TROS since 2009 . The German edition is produced by Talpa Germany (2014 under Schwartzkopff TV-Productions ) in cooperation with naidoo records .

concept

Seven German-speaking singers from different genres come together in a secluded location. Each of the first seven evenings that are recorded is dedicated to one of the musicians. The other six performers each sing a song by him as a cover version in their own style , with band accompaniment, but without any additional audience. Before each of the performances, excerpts from the original videos are shown for comparison. The musicians comment on the songs, but there is no negative criticism. In addition, the interpreter of the evening sings his own current song and at the end of the episode chooses the song of the evening whose interpretation he liked best. In the final eighth episode, the musicians then sing selected songs again in a duet.

The “Song of the Evening” was released as a download single for the first four seasons the next day. There is also a sampler for the season with the best performances from the various episodes. Since the album for the fourth season, all songs are available on the "Deluxe Version" for the first time. In the fifth season, before the sampler was released, the songs from the programs that had already been broadcast were made available for download and streaming from the time they were broadcast.

After broadcasting the fourth episode, an album with a selection of 15 songs from the show was released on May 16, 2014 . The download version also contains the interpretations I Feel Lonely by Sarah Connor and Zieh die Schuh aus Sasha, so 17 songs. In Austria the sampler rose to number one and achieved gold status for 7,500 copies sold. In Germany, it also rose to number one in the second week of the chart and received platinum status for 200,000 copies sold. In Switzerland, the album entered the charts at number three in early June. A deluxe version of the album with additional songs and a DVD was released three weeks later.

The first season achieved above-average audience numbers in Germany. With the exception of two episodes in which other stations were broadcasting football at the same time, the market shares were well above the approximately 5 percent that the station VOX otherwise achieved on average. In the so-called advertising-relevant group (14 to 49 year olds), the rate was more than 3 percentage points above the broadcaster average. The average audience share was 6.6 percent, which corresponds to 1.94 million viewers. The third episode, dedicated to Andreas Gabalier, was most successful, in which 8 percent of the television viewers had switched on the program.

Second season

The eight episodes of the second season were broadcast from May 19, 2015 on a weekly basis on Tuesdays at 8:15 p.m. The host was again Xavier Naidoo , the location near Cape Town was the same as in the first season. The other artists were Andreas Bourani , Yvonne Catterfeld , Sebastian Krumbiegel and Tobias Künzel from the Prinzen , Hartmut Engler from Pur , Christina Stürmer and Daniel Wirtz . As in the first season, the musical accompaniment was provided by the band Grosch's Eleven .

The episode aired the week after the final of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest , which subsequently dominated the charts. Bourani's original von Hey hit the charts and achieved placements between 30 and 46 in German-speaking countries. On Us and On Other Ways , the current songs were still in the charts and were able to improve a few places this week.

After episode 3, only Catterfeld's medley was available for download again, but this episode did not bring newcomers or returnees to the charts. The newly released family album by the Prinzen entered the German album charts at number 9 this week. It also hit the charts in Austria and Switzerland, with the Confederates 20 years between this and the band's last chart placement.

Halfway through the season, a sampler entitled Sing my song - Das Tauschkonzert - Volume 2 with 15 selected songs from all episodes was released. In Germany and Austria he entered number one, in Switzerland he reached number three. Xavier Naidoo's version of the song Mitten unterm Jahr by Christina Stürmer was successful in all countries, including the current Stürmer song What really remains in the charts. In addition, up to four other songs from the album made their way into the charts as individual downloads. Yvonne Catterfeld's interpretation of Andreas Bourani's song Hey came in 17th place in Germany and in the top 30 in Austria and Switzerland.

Sixth season

On November 6, 2018, the broadcaster VOX announced the production of the sixth season for 2019. The role of host was taken on for the first time by Michael Patrick Kelly , who had already played in the fourth season. Other participating artists were Milow , Wincent Weiss , Johannes Oerding , Álvaro Soler , Jennifer haben and Jeanette Biedermann . The season was recorded between February 22nd and March 1st, 2019 in South Africa and was broadcast on Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. on VOX from May 7th to June 25th, 2019.

For the first time in the history of Sing mein Song - the swap concert , all artists of the sixth season performed together in a live concert in front of around 20,000 spectators on September 22, 2019 on the Berlin Waldbühne .

Seventh season

At the end of 2019, VOX announced the seventh season. Michael Patrick Kelly took over the host role as in the sixth season. Other participating artists were Max Giesinger , Lea , MoTrip , Nico Santos , the singer of the band Selig Jan Plewka and the Dutch singer Ilse DeLange . The season was recorded in South Africa at the beginning of March 2020 and was broadcast every Tuesday from May 5, 2020.

Sing my song - the Christmas concert

First season

The TV show Sing my Song - The Christmas Concert was recorded in Ellmau in October 2014 . Each of the participants sang a Christmas carol of their own choosing and another that one of the other six artists had asked them to do. The program was broadcast on December 16, 2014. Naidoo's interpretation of Hallelujah made it into the charts after being broadcast in German-speaking countries. Nasić placed her version of Last Christmas in Germany at position 93 in the charts.

Second season

The participants of the second season also got together for a TV show called Sing my Song - The Christmas Concert . The location of the Christmas concert was again the ski hut in Ellmau in Austria. The concept of the show was also not changed. Each artist sang two Christmas carols; first a Christmas carol that one of the other participants had chosen for him, then his personal favorite Christmas carol. The program was broadcast on December 15, 2015.

Third season

Like its predecessors, the participants of the third season came together again for a Christmas concert at the same meeting point and under the same conditions. A special feature of this Christmas concert was that Nena and Samy Deluxe presented new compositions with their duet Der Baron von Grinchhausen and Xavier Naidoo with A New Year . The BossHoss played one of their own Christmas carols with Riding Home .

Xavier Naidoo - My exchange concerts

Following the Christmas concert of the third season, VOX and Xavier Naidoo - Meine Tauschkonzerte showed a two-hour special edition to mark Naidoo's farewell. Together with the new presenters The BossHoss , he looked at the best moments of the three seasons. Furthermore, The BossHoss, Annett Louisan and Nena were accompanied in the time after the exchange concert and shown here in the special edition.

The premieres

On July 18, 2017, one week after the first broadcast of the last episode of the fourth season of Sing Meine Song, VOX broadcast a special edition of the swap concert entitled The Premieres . Appearances from all previous seasons were presented here, which represented a "television premiere" for the respective artist.
