Private life

Connor was in 1980 in Delmenhorst, the eldest child of of New Orleans coming copywriter Michael Lewe and former model born Soraya. There are five siblings from this marriage, including Anna-Maria Ferchichi, who is married to rapper Bushido , and Lulu Lewe . Her mother's second marriage to a doctor resulted in twins (* 2008) as half-siblings.

From 1997 to 1999 Connor was with Martin Scholz , a member of the boy group Touché . In August 2002 it was announced that she is in a relationship with Marc Terenzi , the lead singer of the band Natural . In February 2004, the couple married in a civil ceremony. In the summer of 2005, the television station ProSieben showed nine episodes of the docu-soap Sarah & Marc in Love , in which the couple were accompanied with the camera at a ceremony based on a church wedding. The wedding took place in August 2005 in Catalonia . From the relationship with Terenzi, Connor has two children, a son (* 2004) and a daughter (* 2006). In 2008 the couple separated; the marriage was divorced in March 2010.

In April 2010 Connor announced that she and her manager Florian Fischer (former member of the boy group The Boyz ) are a couple. In 2011, Connor's third child, another daughter, was born. During the refugee crisis in Europe in 2015 , Connor took in a Syrian mother and her five children for half a year . In 2017 their fourth child, a son, was born. In the same year Connor and Fischer got married. The family lives in Berlin.

Career

Connor grew up with soul music and sang in a Hamburg gospel choir when he was six . At the same time she started taking street dance, hip hop and jazz dance classes. When she was nine years old, she moved to Delmenhorst with her family . She later attended the Max Planck Gymnasium there , where she focused on music. She also took lessons at the local music school, where she received classical training in dance, theater and piano. At the age of 15 Connor sang in the school musical Linie 1 , where she played the role of Sunny in the Delmenhorster Theater Kleines Haus. After dropping out of school at the end of the 12th grade, Connor did a media internship and worked for RTL for Big Brother and for Die Oliver Geissen Show . In 1997 Michael Jackson performed twice in Bremen during his HIStory tour . At the first concert she sang with her sister Anna-Maria in the children's choir to the titles Earth Song and Heal the World .

Connor sent her first demo tape, on which she sang a song by Michael Jackson, to Martin Scholz , a member of the boy group Touché , which also came from Delmenhorst. The two became a couple, and in July 1998 she appeared as Sarah Gray in the opening act for Touché at a concert in Delmenhorst. This stage name goes back to her grandfather, an Irish-American jazz and R&B pianist. Together with Marc van Linden , she recorded the title Last Unicorn in 1998 , which was originally written by Jimmy Webb for the film The Last Unicorn (1982). The band America interpreted the original soundtrack in their album and the single The Last Unicorn . After the demo CD was rejected, Sony Music Entertainment released the title with the in-house project In-Mood feat. Juliette and landed a hit. In December 1999 she released the single This Christmas on the Villa Entertainment label , but it missed the charts. From 1999 to 2001 Connor produced some demo CDs near Hanover . The big record companies initially rejected Connor. She separated from her first manager and teamed up with artist manager Carlo Vista.

In autumn 2000 she signed a contract with the Sony subsidiary X-Cell. The founder of X-Cell, George Glueck , became aware of the then 19-year-old through a vocal recording of Leisefall der Schnee , which was on her single This Christmas . Then Connor dropped out of school and moved out of home. In order to make the stage name more memorable and international, it was changed from Sarah Gray to Sarah Connor. She also chose this based on her Irish-American ancestors. The singer says there is no connection with the main female character of the same name in the movie Terminator . Together with producers Kay Denar and Rob Tyger, she worked on her debut for six months. The management of Connor continued to be taken over by Carlo Vista, who also took care of the American R&B and hip-hop singer TQ as a guest singer on the first single.
