The Delmenhorster Kreisblatt is a daily newspaper published in the independent city of Delmenhorst and the surrounding villages in the districts of Diepholz and Oldenburg . The sold circulation is 13,826 copies, a decrease of 39.9 percent since 1998. In addition, the Sunday advertising paper “Kreisblatt am Sonntag” is published.

history

In 1832 the Delmenhorster Kreisblatt was published for the first time by the printer and bookbinder Hinrich Rieck. The Delmenhorster Kreisblatt has been appearing on the front page with local news since 1978. The concept has been expanded over the years. Since February 1, 2008, the newspaper has published its own edition for Ganderkesee and the Oldenburg district. The local news from Ganderkesee is on the first pages according to the concept of the newspaper. From 2004 to 2010 the publisher no longer had its own local editorial office. During this time, the pages were supplied by an editorial company (RIECK24 News Service GmbH), which in turn maintained editorial offices in Delmenhorst and Ganderkesee. Shareholders were the editor-in-chief of the Delmenhorster Kreisblatt Ralf Freitag (since 2014 managing director of the Lippische Zeitung) and publisher Frank Dallmann (until June 2018 with the Delmenhorster Kreisblatt). The spin-off made headlines, as a number of old editors were dismissed after establishing several companies in a row. The company was also in the headlines because the editorial subsidiary not only took over the creation of the newspaper content, but also offered public relations work for companies until 2014. In personal union, DK editor-in-chief Ralf Freitag was also the managing director of the PR company, which is commonly seen as a problem for the independence of a newspaper. In 2010 the newspaper produced the regional section itself for the first time. Previously, it had obtained the cover section from Weser-Kurier (WK). Since then, the editorial team has been part of the publisher again and is no longer part of Rieck24 News Service GmbH. In 2012 it turned out that the economic situation of the Rieck Verlag was not good. The focus was again placed more on local reporting and the share of national news was reduced.

On June 24, 2014 it became known that the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung had bought 75% of the DK-Medien publishing company, that the news desk in Delmenhorst was to be closed and that the cover pages were to be created by the Osnabrück central editorial office. Two days later, it was announced that 30 jobs would be cut (of the 90 available at the time).

As a result, the editorial structure of the Delmenhorster Kreisblatt was changed again in September 2014. The basis from the local editorial office in Delmenhorst is now supplemented by the supraregional reporting of the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung. The Delmenhorster Kreisblatt has been published by the new publishing company DK Medien GmbH, in which NOZ MEDIEN has a 75 percent stake, since 2015. Jens Wegmann has been the sole managing director of DK Medien since mid-2018.

Edition

The Delmenhorster Kreisblatt has lost a lot of its circulation in recent years . The number of copies sold has fallen by an average of 3.3% per year over the past 10 years. Last year it decreased by 3%. It is currently 13,826 copies. The share of subscriptions in the circulation sold is 89.7 percent.

Internet portal

The daily newspaper has had its own news website on the Internet since 1997. The website has been paid for since the digital subscription model was introduced in 2016. 10 articles are freely readable per month. In addition, the online news offering was expanded in March 2018 to include so-called dk Plus articles, which are selected by the editorial team and are always chargeable.
