Charisma

As a follow-up to the Ilona Christen talk show , the Oliver Geissen Show was broadcast from August 23, 1999, Monday to Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

At the end of August 2007 it was announced that RTL would postpone the program to 2:00 p.m. after the afternoon program reform in favor of the magazine Punkt 12, which was extended to two hours . Since October 15, 2007, when the 1,500th edition of the program was broadcast, the new broadcast time was 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The show has also been visually revised.

The broadcast

Moderator Oliver Geissen spoke to guests during the RTL broadcast, and every viewer could apply to be a talk guest via a hotline for the broadcast.

Until 2004 the show was a production by Hans Meiser's company creatv. The Geissen / RTL joint venture NORDDEICH TV has been producing the show since the sixth season.

With the change of broadcasting slot, the show had to accept heavy loss of ratings. The times when it was by far the market leader in the target group of 14 to 49 year old viewers were long gone. Most recently it was almost every day clearly behind the direct competition formats Zwei on Kallwass (Sat.1) and We are Family! This is how Germany lives (ProSieben).

The consequences of paternity tests were particularly controversial in the press . In its 4/2005 issue, Der Spiegel referred to Geissen as a “daddy checker”.

At the end of April 2009, RTL announced that the Oliver Geissen Show would be canceled due to increasingly poor ratings.

The last broadcast was broadcast on August 28, 2009.
