Natural is a former American boy band with members Ben Bledsoe, "J" Josh Horn, Michael Johnson, Patrick Jr. King and Marc Terenzi .

history

The band was formed in Orlando , Florida in 1999 after Marc Terenzi and Patrick Jr. King met at a party. Terenzi brought his friend Ben Bledsoe into the band, Patrick Jr. King his friend Michael Johnson. After various provisional members, Josh Horn finally became the fifth member of the band.

After trying unsuccessfully to get a record deal, the five were spotted performing by Lou Pearlman . He signed her and brought her to Germany . When they were successful there, Lou Pearlman was of the opinion that he had the new * NSYNC in front of him and flew back to the USA with them. The desired success did not materialize there, however. The single Put Your Arms Around Me (by the same writer as Genie in A Bottle - Christina Aguilera ) did not make it onto the Billboard Hot 100, despite a collaboration with the Claire's chain . Claire's "gave away" the CD for purchases of $ 12 or more. Pearlman therefore decided to go back to Germany with the musicians, where the first album, Keep It Natural , was finally released. It contained 13 songs, including three cover songs and only one, Paradise , which was composed by the band themselves. The singles and the album sold pretty well in Germany. There were tours and a second album, It's Only Natural , which was rockier and mostly composed by the band members, followed. The band achieved their greatest success at the side of Sarah Connor . The jointly recorded single Just One Last Dance reached number 1 in the German single charts in March 2004 . In the summer of 2004 the problems began. The last singles like Let Me Just Fly only reached the top 30 and fell far short of Pearlman's expectations. With the single Why It Hurts , which Roger Glenmore released on the label Luckysong ( Sony Music ) on the farewell tour, Natural was able to record their last chart success.

separation

Marc Terenzi met Sarah Connor in the summer of 2002 and met her despite a ban from Lou Pearlman. Pearlman had established several rules for the members of Natural:

  • No piercings or tattoos.
  • They weren't allowed to wear a beard.
  • You were not officially allowed to have a steady girlfriend.
  • They also had to sing and play playback during live performances, even though they were perfectly capable of playing their instruments.

In June 2003 it was announced that Sarah Connor was pregnant and that she and Marc Terenzi were engaged. Pearlman therefore demanded that Terenzi leave the band. However, the other members did not want to continue without him, so they split up. The official reason was that all members would like to pursue new goals from now on. Sarah Connor herself rejected the rumors that she was to blame for the breakup. The band said goodbye to their fans with a tour through Germany, but Michael "J" Horn did not take part because he had already committed to a new arrangement. However, the band was supported by a friend, Mike Costuguay, who had previously written songs with the band.

The "new" Natural

In November 2004, it was announced that Lou Pearlman had not yet finished with Natural. He formed a “new” band from Patrick King and four other members, who changed their style to rock or “fake punk ” music. The first album of the new formation was planned for January 2006 . However, this formation could not even match the small success that the originals had in the States. In 2006 they finally renamed themselves to "Well Worn Zero".

Separate ways

  • Ben Bledsoe started a solo career in 2005 and released his solo album Insomniac’s Guide to a Lonely Heart , for which he wrote much of the music and lyrics, as well as his Christmas single Memories Melt the Snow . He also founded his own record label and publisher "44th floor Records". In the fall of 2006, the singer moved from Orlando, Florida to Los Angeles , California . In the meantime, however, Bledsoe returns to Germany for a few gigs every year.
  • Marc Terenzi married Sarah Connor in March 2004 shortly after the birth of their first son Tyler. The family starred in their own reality show called Sarah & Marc in Love . Terenzi released his CD Awesome , most of which was written by him. The single Love to Be Loved By You reached the top 10 of the German charts. Terenzi is now a father of two, his daughter was born in the summer of 2006. He lived with his family in Wildeshausen near Delmenhorst (Germany). In October 2007 he organized the "Terenzi Horror Nights" for the first time in Europa-Park in Rust . These took place every weekend in October and continued in the following years. In summer 2008 "Sarah & Marc crazy in love" was shown on ProSieben . This time you could see both Marc and Sarah working on a new album. The single Billie Jean , which Terenzi covered by Michael Jackson, is the first single from the new album Black Roses . At the end of October it was announced that the Connor-Terenzi couple had split up. The divorce was finalized in March 2010.
  • Michael "J" Horn married his girlfriend Olivia. Today they live in Winter Park , Florida . Horn currently teaches music, goes to college, works for the Orlando Ballet, and performs in a variety of plays and musicals.
  • Patrick King was still a member of a new line of natural, but before he published with the singer Stephanie D. the single Everytime It's Christmas . In April 2006 the "new" Natural were fired from their Transcontinental Records label . Most recently it was claimed that they changed their style to independent rock. However, there was no success. Two of the members formed a new band called The Redfelts .
  • Michael Wayne Johnson has lived with ex-band member Ben Bledsoe in Los Angeles, California since May 2006, where he plays drums for various bands. In 2008 he returned to Germany to support Marc Terenzi as a drummer in his band project Terenzi. He could also be seen in Sarah & Marc Crazy in Love , as well as in the clips Billie Jean and Are You Afraid of the Dark? .
