Herz Kraft Werke is the ninth studio album by the German singer Sarah Connor and her second in German , released by Polydor on May 31, 2019 . After Naughty but Nice (2005) and Mother Tongue (2015), it is Connor's third number one album.

background

On November 10, 2018, Sarah Connor announced a second album in German together with a tour that will include 14 concerts. She produced the album in Nashville , Tennessee and London . She wrote all the texts, Connor wrote a total of seven texts alone. She also took part in the music on all the songs. In addition to Djorkaeff , with whom she worked for the first time and who co-produced seven songs on the album , she received additional support from the producer trio von Rosenstolz , Peter Plate , Ulf Leo Sommer and Daniel Faust , who also played a key role in their previous album, mother tongue was involved in production.

Vincent , the album's first single , was released on April 5, 2019 . In it, she addresses love in puberty and also the subject of homosexuality . Connor told the taz that Vincent was "the most important song [she] has done so far". Some radio stations refused to play because of the first verse, "Vincent doesn't get a point when he thinks of girls," with which the song begins to play the song in their program at all. Others made a compromise by playing the song without the first verse, but numerous stations also broadcast the song uncensored . The album cover is outlined in rainbow colors to match the song, a globally recognized symbol of the tolerance of homosexuals.

At the beginning of May, Infinite followed as the second single on her album, singing about the infinite love for her children. She released her third single on May 17, 2019 with Listen to Your Belly , a song that musically takes up the motto of life, not dream your life, but live your dream . With the song Flugzeug aus Papier (For Emmy) , she brought out her fourth single a week before the album was released. In the song she deals with the death of the daughter of the American ski racer Bode Miller, who died in 2018, and his wife Morgan Miller .

The album reached number one in the German album charts and the Ö3 Austria Top 40 in the first week ; it reached number three in the Swiss charts .

reception

Reviewer Sven Kabelitz from laut.de gave the album two out of five possible stars and described the album as “Schunkelkitsch with attitude.” Kabelitz also said he had nothing against “pee-poop humor” or “a nice helping of beaver milking”, but on the album it seems "strangely out of place and on top of that stilted". All in all, Herz Kraft Werke reminds him , which he attributes to the hit , "of the good 1970s" and found that Connor shares the " DNA " with Mary Roos , Gitte and Manuela . In conclusion, he noted that the album was divided into two halves, “of which Scherer / Treuner took over the second”. As a result, there would be a “significant loss of tension”.

Axel Hill from the Kölnische Rundschau said that Sarah Connor shows herself on the album from “gorgeous to angry”. For the critic, the “hearty punched Vincent ” stood out from the “mostly ballad-like contributions ”. He praised the "certain snottiness" and the "beautiful pictures, like of the ex-love that she believed buried in the closet 'under old jackets'". It becomes “annoying to unbearable” when she changes to a “girlish, slightly brittle tone” or comes along with “simple solutions”, for example when she is told by “the AfD idiots who will not get their hearts” with love, love, Love ”. Hill wondered how much “calculus was involved” and whether something “more profound” might not have been possible.
