Peter Plate, January 2013

Peter Plate (born July 1, 1967 in New Delhi , India ) is a German singer , producer and composer . He is a member of the Rosenstolz duo .

Life

Plate's grandfather was a diplomat in New Delhi . After his return to Germany, Plate lived in Hamburg , Goslar and Braunschweig . As a teenager he wrote a musical with friends and produced some music cassettes without being able to publish them in large numbers.

He moved to Berlin and began studying social pedagogy , which he broke off. He worked in a Berlin hairdressing salon before turning entirely to music. He had his first solo appearance in 1991 in the homosexual magazine Andersrum of the Berlin broadcaster FAB with the song Mother, You Left Me . In the same year he met the singer AnNa R. with whom he founded the Duo Rosenstolz and released the first album in 1992. In 1996 he was seen in the crime thriller Unter die Haut in a supporting role as a community service provider.

In addition to working with AnNa R., Plate continues to work as a composer . In 2004 he composed heroes like us for Jasmin Wagner , as well as the titles A Second Too Long and Be Yourself for the Colombian singer Victoria Faiella , in 2005 with his partner Herz einer Kämpfers for Patricia Kaas and with the duo 2raumwohnung some songs from their album 36 Grad .

On April 5, 2013, his first solo album was released, Shy is my luck . The single We both are music was released two weeks earlier .

In the following year, Plate worked on various projects with the Rosenstolz songwriters Daniel Faust and Ulf Leo Sommer . They provided the music for the children's film Bibi and Tina , which premiered in spring 2014 under the direction of Detlev Buck .

There was also a new edition of the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare as a musical , which premiered on August 16, 2014 in Kiel. The text was provided by a translation by Daniel Karasek .

Peter Plate delivers with Ulf Leo Sommer the lyrics for the song Our Day and On those nights from the album of colors of Helene Fischer . The album has now been sold over 2.2 million times.

In 2014, Plate, Sommer and Faust wrote the score for the film Coming In by director Marco Kreuzpaintner with Kostja Ullmann and Aylin Tezel . The trio was supported by the singer Maxine Kazis and Chris Schummert, known from the 2013 season of The Voice .

In addition, Plate and his colleagues composed the music for the film Bibi and Tina - Vollhexxt , the follow-up to the first part of Bibi and Tina . They also wrote the movie songs for the sequels of the series, Girls Against Boys and Tohuwabohu - Total .

In July 2014, Plate, Sommer and Faust began to support the German artist Sarah Connor with the songwriting for her next album. The album went straight to number one in the German charts after its release and quickly reached platinum status (200,000 album sales). In February 2017, the album managed one million sales, the corresponding first single Wie schön du bist rose directly to number two in the charts and has now achieved multiple gold status (over 400,000 single sales).

Plate has been working as a producer, lyricist and composer for the artist Maxine Kazis since the beginning of 2016 . The collaboration developed from the previous projects Romeo and Juliet and Coming In and is reflected in a publication by Kazis. The album The Evolution of Maxine Kazis was released on November 25, 2016 under the label pop-out founded by Plate and Sommer .

At the same time, Plate is producing the live show Bibi & Tina - The Big Show , which follows on from the successful film series and premiered on December 26, 2016.

On August 31, 2018, Plate announced a new Rosenstolz album: Let it be love - The most beautiful songs . ^{[obsolete] In} 2018, together with Sarah Connor , he wrote the song Vincent for the album Herz Kraft Werke , released in May 2019 .

social commitment

Peter Plate has been involved, also financially, in the fight against AIDS since the beginning of his career at Rosenstolz . He repeatedly points out that the topic is always topical and calls for donations to the German AIDS Foundation.

He also fights for the rights of homosexuals, bisexuals and transsexuals in Russia with the musician Carolina Bigge . Together they wrote the song Ten (For Natascha and Olga) under the project name Mann + Miss . Marco Kreuzpaintner provided the music video for it . With the help of the music title Zehn and an open letter, both of which were published under the name Aktion: Zehn , Plate and Bigge are promoting more tolerance towards homosexuals in Russia.
