Macht Liebe is the eighth studio album by the Berlin pop band Rosenstolz released on September 2, 2002 and is also the name of the tour that goes with it.
background
The first part of the album differs significantly from the albums that Rosenstolz released due to the electronic influences. This was mainly due to nostalgic reasons. The first single Sternraketen is a homage to the Neue Deutsche Welle and the 1980s. “Star rocket” symbolizes feelings of happiness. The music video was shot by Joern Heitmann . The red tracksuits inside are a nod to the movie The Royal Tenenbaums . In the video for the single, AnNa R. and Plate are exposed on a planet (earth) that is foreign to them. The single managed to enter the dance charts.
Furthermore, the musical change was justified by the fact that Plate was once again enthusiastic about the demo tapes at the beginning of the band from 1991: I stumbled upon old demos, so Vierspurdinger on tape, and was completely enthusiastic about the stuff we did We made '91 before our first record and thought: we've lost a little bit on the way. Because it was shrill how we started. That was really just my M1 keyboard and Hubba Bubba bass. I thought you just have to try it again. That’s why we’ve done it that way with a couple of songs.
The second half of the album is characterized by purely acoustic ballads. A typical example of this is the track Princess on the siding , the content of which Rosenstolz describes as follows: “In short, it could describe the following situation: You go out, kneel up and think it will be the night of the nights and ... nothing happens at all. Nobody notices you, you just feel left out, turned off. However, this is only one possible interpretation. It is also nicer when everyone can "invent" their own story about it. "
Inga Humpe from the band 2raumwohnung was also involved in the album production . She is called by name on the track Macht Liebe , but her influence can also be heard in other songs.
In addition, Rosenstolz guitarist Ralf Lübke was involved in the text of the second single Es ist noch hurt .
