Zucker is the sixth studio album by the Berlin pop band Rosenstolz , released on April 23, 1999, and is also the name of the accompanying tour. The Sugar Tour took place in the spring of 1999. The live album Zuckerschlampen: was recorded live . In the autumn of 1999 the tour was continued under the name Zuckerschlampen-Tour .
background
The song Perlentaucher was released as the first single on March 9, 1999 . The album Zucker followed on April 23, 1999. It entered the German album charts at number two and stayed in the top 10 for another three weeks.
AnNa R. describes the album as follows: “She is very honest and very close. Closer than the others. It is beautifully produced, Peter did that. She is a little more mature, from the texts and also from the topics. This is probably because we're just older. " The texts were, except for the Spliff -Cover Heut' night , Peter Plate, Ulf Leo Sommer and AnNa R. wrote. The song Nirvana is one of the first songs that Rosenstolz wrote. It's about BDSM and was only released with this album. The song Another Feeling of Pain is about spurned love. Towards the end of the album, metaphors from the world of fairy tales are often used (in Cleopatra , Vom Wesen der Liebe , Ich und mein Prinz ). AnNa R. sees it as a return to the roots ( "Vom Wesen der Liebe", this fairy tale thing, it's like going back to the roots. )
On April 26, 1999, the second and final single, Fütter Your Angst / Ja, I want, was released . The idea for Ja, ich will came up in February 1999, when Peter Plate, Ulf Leo Sommer, AnNa R. and Hella von Sinnen came up with the idea after the TEDDY awards to make a song together for marriage between gays and lesbians. However, the video, which was shot by director Marcus Sternberg , has been rejected by VIVA and MTV .
In 2000 the album was reissued in a jewel case. On November 4, 2002, another new edition of the album was released with an expanded track list and a changed cover. In addition to Ja, ich will , Zucker III , a remix by Peter Plate and Pierre André Deutschmann, which was only released on promo CD, was added to the track list. The remix includes a newly added spoken chant by Peter Plate.
