background
"Wednesday is' he due" is the last album that Rosenstolz released on the Berlin indie label Traumton. Later he switched to Polydor . Wednesday is it due was Peter Plate's first album production.
On February 20, 1995, the single of the same name was released in advance, for which a music video was shot. The background for the song was the story of an acquaintance that she was after a man who simply ignored her. At the end she said: "But I'll tell you one thing, Wednesday it's due". The album was then released on May 15, 1995. The CD did not make it into the German top 100.
On September 18, 1995, the second and final single "Lachen" was released. A music video was also shot for this. On the day when Peter Plate wrote the song “Lachen”, the Berlin gospel singer Melitta Sundström , with whom Rosenstolz performed several times together , succumbed to the consequences of the immunodeficiency disease AIDS . “Laughing” is about dealing with the issue of AIDS and about the loss of a loved one. Plate expresses himself in the book Dear me, if you can, take me, take me in as follows: “This topic touches me and brings back the worst memories in my life. The fear of HIV and AIDS, of it affecting you or your friends, is the greatest I have. This fear is very real and cannot be suppressed in the gay scene and among my friends. For me it doesn't mean death, it doesn't automatically mean sadness and sadness. I hope that with the pride of roses we can do something in the fight against AIDS, even if it is just passing around a donation box. "
The album mainly deals with sexual issues, which are reflected in the songs “Beisse mich”, “Gentle seducer” or “Be my God”. In addition, it contains a cover version of the Hildegard Knef song "I pull myself on (and slowly undress)".
The song “Morgenlicht” was actually intended for the album. In the end it was only released on the strictly limited CD “Sanfter Verführer” and was later released in 2000 in a modified form as the single “Kinder der Nacht”. In 2007 a new edition of the album was released.
