Michelle (2009)

Michelle (born February 15, 1972 in Villingen-Schwenningen , bourgeois Tanja Gisela Hewer ) is a German pop singer .

Beginnings

Michelle grew up in Blumberg with a brother and a sister. When she was nine years old, she came to a foster family. At 14 she sang in a local band. Through contact with a sound engineer, she came to Südwestfunk , where she made her first public appearance. There she was discovered by the pop singer Kristina Bach . The composer Jean Frankfurter wrote and produced the first single for Michelle in 1993, And Tonight I Want To Dance . The single was a success in the hit parade and brought Michelle into the ZDF hit parade . This was followed by further recordings and appearances on radio and television.

Career

Michelle (2011)

In 1994 Michelle applied with Silbermond and Sternenfeuer at the German Schlager Festival and achieved second place ("Silver Muse"). In the preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 she came in third place with the title In the Eye of the Storm . A few days later she was back on stage at the German Schlager Festival in 1997 and won the "Golden Muse" with her title Wie Flammen im Wind . After she had won the German qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest on March 2, 2001 with Wer Liebe Leben , she represented Germany on May 12, 2001 in Copenhagen and took eighth place.

In April 2003, just before a concert, she suffered a minor stroke , from which she recovered completely. Michelle suffered from severe depression for some time and claims to have attempted suicide . That's why she temporarily withdrew from the hit business and opened a dog hairdressing salon , which has now been closed again.

Michelle (2016)

In spring 2005 the album Leben was released , which was gilded within a few weeks . In 2006 Michelle released cover versions of disco hits from the 1970s as Tanja Thomas . Her album Glas stayed in the German charts for six weeks and reached twelfth place. In October 2006, she appeared with figure skater Jan Luggenhölscher in the German version of Dancing on Ice . By readers of men magazine Maxim she became the Woman of the Year 2006 selected and stood for the February 2007 issue of erotic photos on camera. On January 30, 2007, she suffered a faint attack during a concert in Erfurt . The tour was then canceled. In March of the same year she therefore announced at a press conference that the "Michelle Project" was over. On August 29, 2008, she filed for personal bankruptcy .

After retreating into private life, Michelle released a new studio album in 2009 and appeared one day later on the ARD show Das Herbstfest der Volksmusik . The album The Best Moment followed at the end of 2010 . In summer 2011 and spring 2012, she was a member of the three-person jury for the RTL 2 show My Name Is . The album L'amour followed in March 2012 . In 2014 Michelle released the album The Ultimate Best Of , a mix of old and new songs. With the album she reached number 7 in the German, number 44 in the Swiss and number 2 in the Austrian charts. It was awarded platinum in Austria for over 15,000 units. Michelle went on a solo tour in Germany and Austria for the first time from February to April 2015. In October 2015 the live album and the DVD for the tour were released. The album reached number 18 in the German charts, number 9 in Austria and number 54 in Switzerland.

In 2016 and 2017, she sat on the jury of the 13th and 14th season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar .

In April 2016 she released the studio album I would do it again .

The album Tabu followed in May 2018 and entered the German charts at number four. In June 2018 appeared not deserve the second single from the album. It is another duet with Matthias Reim. The single reached the German and Swiss single charts. In Switzerland it was Michelle's first single chart success of her career.

Private

Michelle has three daughters: one from her marriage (1995–1999) to the former Wind singer Albert Oberloher , Marie Reim (* 2000) from her relationship (1999–2001) with Matthias Reim , one (* 2008) from her marriage ( 2007) with Josef Shitawey . In February 2010, the separation of Michelle and Shitawey became known, Michelle then took her maiden name again.
