German Schlager Festival 1994
The German Schlager Festival 1994 took place on June 25th in the Kurhaus in Baden-Baden . The working group of German music competitions had previously called on lyricists and composers to submit songs for this event. This should revive the tradition of the German Schlager Festival of the 1960s. Already in 1991 and 1992 there were similar events with Schlager '91 and Schlager '92 under the name German Song Festival .
From numerous submissions, a jury selected ten titles for the 1994 Schlager Festival, which were presented to the audience and the jurors on June 25 on the occasion of a live broadcast by Südwestfunk on ARD from Baden-Baden. Dieter Thomas Heck led the show . The performers were accompanied by the Dieter Reith orchestra .
After the title was presented, the audience and juries from the twelve ARD broadcasters could submit their ratings. The winner was Wolfgang Petry with the title Because one day perhaps, which he composed himself. Bernd Opinion wrote the text . Both received the "Golden Muse". The “Silver Muse” was won by the authors of the title Silbermond und Sternenfeuer . The "Bronze Muse" won the title So I love you .
The broadcast evoked a divided echo. Nevertheless, it was to continue on March 18, 1995 with a new hit festival. However, this could not be realized in this form, so that there was initially no continuation. It was not until 1997 that the German Schlager Festival was held again. Some titles from the 1994 Schlager Festival are occasionally played on the radio. All titles also appeared on a CD .
