German Schlager Festival 1997

The German Schlager Festival 1997 took place on March 1st in the Ortenauhalle in Offenburg . The Arbeitsgemeinschaft deutscher Musikwettbewerbe (ARGE) had previously called on lyricists and composers to submit songs for this event. As early as 1994 attempts had been made to revive the tradition of the German Schlager Festival of the 1960s. There were also similar events in 1991 and 1992 with Schlager '91 and Schlager '92 under the name of the German Song Festival .

From numerous submissions, a jury selected twelve titles for the 1997 Schlager Festival, which were presented to the audience and the jurors on March 1st on the occasion of a live broadcast by Südwestfunk within the ARD from Offenburg. Dieter Thomas Heck led the show .

After the title was presented, the audience and juries from the twelve ARD broadcasters could submit their ratings. The winner was Michelle entitled How flames in the wind, the Jean Frankfurter composed and Irma Holder had texted. At the 1994 Schlager Festival , Michelle finished second with Silbermond and Sternenfeuer . Now she received the "Golden Muse" with the two authors of her new song. The “Silver Muse” was won by the authors of the title Where Love Lives, sung by Leonard . The "Bronze Muse" was given to the authors of the title Because you are the way you are sung by André Stade . Some titles from the 1997 Schlager Festival, including I have seen the rose, Come and hold on, and Michelle's winning title, are played on the radio every now and then. All titles were published on one CD .

In the following year, the German Schlager Festival was held again.
