Tom Astor
Tom Astor (* February 27, 1943 as Will, Willi or Wilhelm Bräutigam in Schmallenberg in the Sauerland ) is a German singer , composer , lyricist and producer of the pop and country music scene.
Life
In 1963 Astor first appeared on the stage. First he sang German hits, in the late 1970s he devoted himself to German-language country music . In 1980 he released his first country album and in 1981 he performed at the Fan Fair in Nashville .
In 1984 the breakthrough came in Germany with the song Hallo, Gute Morgen Deutschland . The hit drew numerous appearances on almost all major television shows. Astor was the winner of the ZDF annual hit parade with his hit Junge Adler and several times the winner of the ARD program Deutsche Schlagerparade .
In 1997 he took part in the German Schlager Festival and achieved fourth place with his title Eisen im Feuer . In 2000, he was one of the first German singers to appear in the Grand Ole Opry . In May 2007, the album Duette was released , on which Astor sings with Johnny Cash , Kenny Rogers , Waylon Jennings , Billy Swan and Willie Nelson , among others . He is supported as musicians by Eddie Bayers (drums), Hargus "Pig" Robbins (piano), Mark Casstevens (acoustic guitar), Paul Franklin (pedal steel, Dobro) and Charlie McCoy . Astor was nominated in 2007 by the CMA as a "Global Artist".
For his double album Alles Klar - no problem! from 2008 he traveled to Nashville again to record with artists such as Dolly Parton . In June 2009 a concert recorded the year before in the Lichtwerk in Schmallenberg was released live on CD and DVD under the name Tom Astor & Band unplugged . The Tom Astor Band was reinforced at the concert by guest musicians Charlie McCoy and Bruce Watkins from Nashville.
In 2010 the album Leben Pur was released , on which Crystal Gayle , Michael Hirte and Günter Wewel participated, among others . Also in 2010 was the album Wunderbar ist die Welt , on which Astor presents unreleased pieces from the beginning of his career. With Tom Astor's Children's Country Party , he released an album for children for the first time in 2012. In 2014, the studio album was released full force ahead . Astor is married and has two children.
Trivia
In 1987 the right-wing party German People's Union - List D produced and sold a special edition with the title Hallo, Gute Morgen Deutschland as a single.
