Administrative map of the Reichsgau Sudetenland

The German district of Aussig existed between 1938 and 1945 in the Reichsgau Sudetenland . On January 1, 1945, it included the city of Karbitz , the Groß Priesen and Mariaschein markets and 85 other communities.

Administrative history

Czechoslovakia / German occupation

Before the Munich Agreement of September 29, 1938, the political district of Ústí nad Labem belonged to Czechoslovakia .

In the period from October 1st to October 10th, 1938, German troops occupied this area. The political Ústí nad Labem was henceforth the former German-Austrian name Aussig and included the judicial districts Karbitz and Außig . Since November 20, 1938 it has been known as the "district". Until that day he was subordinate to the Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Colonel General Walther von Brauchitsch , as head of the military administration.

German Empire

The next day, the district of Aussig was formally incorporated into the German Reich and came to the administrative district of the Sudeten German territories under the Reich Commissioner Konrad Henlein . The town of Außenig became the seat of the district administration .

From April 15, 1939, the law on the structure of the administration in the Reichsgau Sudetenland (Sudetengaugesetz) came into force. Then the district of Aussig came to the Reichsgau Sudetenland and was assigned to the new administrative district of Aussig .

After the reorganization of the partially cut districts in the Sudetenland on May 1, 1939, the district of Außenig was retained. However, after the incorporation of the communities of Hottowies, Pokau, Prödlitz, Schreckenstein, Türmitz and Ziebernik, the town of Außenig itself was detached from the district and formed its own urban district from then on . It remained in this state until the end of World War II.

From 1945 the area belonged again to Czechoslovakia. Today it is part of the Czech Republic .

Population development

The area of the district of Außenig had 61,721 inhabitants on December 1, 1930, 56,201 on May 17, 1939 and 36,541 inhabitants on May 22, 1947.
