Velké Březno (German Großpriesen ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It has 2,215 inhabitants and is located on the right bank of the Elbe between Ústí nad Labem (Aussig) and Děčín (Tetschen). The community at the confluence of the Homolský potok with the Elbe is a popular summer resort and belongs to the Okres Ústí nad Labem and Ústecký kraj . It is located at 139 m above sea level. M.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1167 as Brezina or villa Nabrezine and was a foundation of the Order of St. John. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the Wartenbergs owned the estate. In 1520 Friedrich von Saalhausen bought the property and in 1582 Abraham Bock acquired the rule. Other owners were the Lords of Miltitz, von Dietrichstein and the Counts of Harrach.
In 1841 Karel Chotek acquired the rule for 170,000 guilders. In 1890 the Großpriesen-Wernstadt-Auscha local railway was opened. Today it is closed, a museum railway runs on part of the route to Zubrnice . The Velké Březno brewery, established in 1753, is part of the Heineken Česká republika and produces the Březňák beer brand . During the Habsburg Monarchy, Velké Březno was part of the judicial district of Ausig and the District of Ausig .

Community structure
The municipality of Velké Březno consists of the districts Valtířov (Waltirsche) and Velké Březno ( Großpriesen ). Basic settlement units are Osada, Valtířov, Velké Březno and Vítov ( Wittal ). The settlements Nový Les ( Neuwald ), Varta ( Warta ) and Velichov ( Welchen ) also belong to Velké Březno .
The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Valtířov nad Labem, Velké Březno and Vítov u Velkého Března.
