The Magnetovec (German Spitzberg ) is a 520 m high mountain near Velké Březno ( Großpriesen ) in the Bohemian Central Mountains in the Czech Republic . The south side of the mountain was placed under nature protection on April 27, 1992 on 6.3 hectares as a natural monument of Skalní hřib .
Location and surroundings
The Magnetovec is located on the right side of the valley of Homolský Potok ( Hummel Bach ) between the districts Velichov ( What ) and Byňov ( Binowe ).
A special feature on its southern slope is an 8 m high stone mushroom (Czech: Skalní hřib ). The basanite rock was created by two lava eruptions. The lower part is more porous and weathered towards the stem, while the upper plug of solid material forms the mushroom cap.
Paths to the summit
In 2002, following the green hiking route from Velké Březno, a circular hiking trail was set up over the mountain, which also leads past the Skalní hřib natural monument .
