Roman Lob (born July 2, 1990 in Düsseldorf ) is a German pop singer. He represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku after winning the casting show Our Star for Baku .
biography
Lob grew up with a sister in Rott , a district of Neustadt (Wied) . After completing secondary school , he completed an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic at an auto supplier in Troisdorf until January 2011 , from which he was then taken on as a permanent position . Lob goes snowboarding and downhill in his spare time . Because of his connection to music, he had a colored image of a microphone tattooed on his chest .
In June 2016 he married his long-time partner.
Artistic career
Praise sang in the choir of his kindergarten. He learned to play the piano from his grandfather, who played the organ in church. He tried his hand at the guitar as well as the bass. Lob has been making music since he was eight. In the music group of the Neustadt secondary school, he rediscovered singing for himself. At the age of 13 he first appeared in school with a music group.
In 2005 he founded the band Painful Poison with two friends, in which he played drums. He was the singer of the metalcore band Days of Despite, founded in 2007, and the project Three of a Kind, which he founded with two members of his first band in 2009. As a participant in the fourth season of the casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar , he first became known to a larger audience in 2007. There he was eliminated - among the top 20 candidates - due to a laryngitis . However, Dieter Bohlen offered Lob to use a bye for the following season of the television show in 2008. He decided not to do this in favor of his apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic. With the alternative rock band Rooftop Kingdom, Lob had various appearances as a singer in the Rhineland.
Lob had already applied for participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 without success in 2008 together with Axel Fischer , with whom he recorded the title When the Boys Come under the name G12 P - Germany 12 Points .
In the fall of 2011, competed for the praise of the ARD and ProSieben oriented talent show Unser Star für Baku , the German preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2012 . He was selected for a shortlist of candidates and appeared on the first television show with the song After Tonight by Justin Nozuka . The original song returned to the German charts after it was broadcast.
