Dein Song is a songwriting competition for children and adolescents that has been organized and broadcast by the television station KiKA since 2008 . The first season was moderated by Jasmin Wagner and Benedikt Weber , in the second, Bürger Lars Dietrich was moderator alongside Jasmin Wagner. Johanna Klum and Bürger Lars Dietrich have been moderating since the third season . The documentary series is produced by bsb-film medienproduktion. MBTV GmbH will produce the live show .

history

At the beginning of 2008 children were asked to send their own composed songs to KiKA. 15 songs were selected from over 2000 applications. After a casting moderated by Jasmin Wagner and Benedikt Weber in the Jagdschloss Platte near Wiesbaden , the jury decided which ten participants would advance.

The jury then assigned a musician to each candidate. Together with the sponsor, the composed song was professionally produced and recorded. After each song was finished, a music video was also shot. Music video director Andreas Simon directed all ten music videos.

At the end of the season there was a live show in which the audience voted for the best song via telephone and SMS voting. The winner of Dein Song 2008 and thus “Songwriter of the Year 2008” was Joshua with his title Stubenrocker .

The second season aired in 2009. From the applications, 16 candidates were invited to Wiesbaden for casting. Here, two applicants each had to duel for a sponsor. This time, Citizen Lars Dietrich moderated Wagner's side. On November 20, Manu was voted "Songwriter of the Year 2009" in the big live show with his title "I hate War".

Also in 2011, 16 songwriters came to Schloss Biebrich in Wiesbaden. Ten candidates were then allowed to continue working on their song in the composer's camp in Ibiza . The remaining eight candidates then met their music godparents in the recording studio. Johanna Klum and Bürger Lars Dietrich moderated the event. In the 100-minute final show, Sarah Pisek was able to convince the audience with her song “Endlich frei” and was named “Songwriter of the Year 2011”.

In the 2012 final, Nina was able to prevail with her title “C'est fini” and was voted “Songwriter of the Year 2012” by the audience.

The anniversary relay was held in 2013. On the occasion of the five-year birthday of “Dein Song”, the final show was 115 minutes long this time. Lina Larissa Strahl was able to convince the audience with her song “Freakin 'Out” and received the title “Songwriter of the Year 2013”.

Pier Luca won the 2014 finale with his composition “Lost Without The Music” and was thus “Songwriter of the Year 2014”.

In 2015 Victoria Conrady was named "Songwriter of the Year" with her title "Maniac".

Leontina Klein was named “Songwriter of the Year 2016” with her title “Wie Sand”.

In 2017 Antonia White was named “Songwriter of the Year” with her title “Reality”.

In 2018 Jonah Splettstößer was named “Songwriter of the Year” in the anniversary season with his title “I don't want to watch anymore”.

In 2019, the candidates' music videos were shot together in a camp for the first time. At the final show, viewers were able to vote for their favorites online for the first time. In the end, Peer Waibel-Fischer became “Songwriter of the Year” with his title “You'll never walk alone”.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no major final show with candidates, sponsors and audience in 2020 . Instead, citizens Lars Dietrich, Johanna Klum and KiKA moderator Ben commented on the candidates' music videos in the studio and reviewed the casting, the composer camp and the studio work with the sponsors. The sponsors sent greetings to the candidates by video. In an online voting, Emmie Lee Epstein was voted “Songwriter of the Year” with her title “I'm Gonna Stay”.
