Lary , also Lary Lou and Lary Poppins , bourgeois Larissa Sirah Herden (born June 20, 1986 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German singer , songwriter, actress and producer.

Life

Lary was born in Gelsenkirchen, the daughter of a Briton of Jamaican descent and a German. After her parents separated and her father returned to London , she grew up with her mother in Gelsenkirchen. After graduating from high school , she studied media and cultural studies at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . After that she lived in New York before moving to Berlin .

At the end of 2008 Lary performed together with Nelson Müller at home + on the way of the WDR and also recorded with Tim Bendzko in the studio. She worked with Curse on the creation of the album Freiheit , and in mid-2012 she released the song Little Things with Chima . Based on the Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW), she calls her music Future Deutsche Welle (FDW). Jan Delay distributed her first online music video Bedtime Blues without knowing her personally. Even Flo Mega noticed her and engaged her as supporting act .

In the end, Lary became really famous for promoting the BR music magazine Startrampe . Her first popular song was titled System . In June 2013 Lary was signed by the concert agency Four Artists and appeared in July at two festivals as a supporting act for Fantastischen Vier . The EP called LARYsays was released in 2013 on the Chimperator Department label .

On September 7, 2014, Lary became the first female solo artist to win the New Music Award from the young radio stations for Radio Fritz, which is endowed with 10,000 euros . Nine youth radio waves of the ARD had each nominated a music group from their respective broadcasting area. The award ceremony was the final highlight of the five-day Berlin Music Week . The album, entitled FutureDeutscheWelle , was released on September 12, 2014 on the Chimperator Department label . As a support act, she accompanied the Fantastischen Vier on their 'record' stadium tour in late 2014 and early 2015.

2015 she worked as a feature guest on the successful single way you are from the album Mama of MoTrip with.

With the song Bedtime Blues she entered the Bundesvision Song Contest 2015 for Berlin on August 29, 2015 . Her second studio album Hart fragil was released in mid-2018, followed by two Germany tours.

In November 2018, she and Felix Lobrecht listened to the Blind Date of the Talk-o-mat podcast on Spotify .

In 2018 she made her acting debut in the film 'Wach'. In the second season of the hit series ' Bad Banks ', Lary has been seen alongside Paula Beer and Albrecht Schuch as coder 'Hannah Ward' since 2020 .

She has been a juror in the casting show Dein Song since 2020 .
