Namika (born August 23, 1991 in Frankfurt am Main ; bourgeois Hanan Hamdi also known under the stage name Hän Violett ) is a German singer and rapper with Moroccan roots, whose music is lyrically and musically based on the German hip-hop scene. She became known to a wider audience in 2015 through her # 1 hit Favorite Man.

biography

Namika grew up in her native city of Frankfurt am Main. Her maternal grandparents come from the Moroccan coastal town of Nador and came to Germany in the early 1970s.

On July 21, 2015, she presented her debut album Nador . It also includes the first single, Favorite Man. The album entered the German album charts at number 13 at the end of July 2015 . The single Favoritmensch entered the German single charts at number 27 and was able to improve to number one by week eight thanks to strong airplay . The second single Hellwach was released on August 28, 2015 and reached number 62 in the charts.

Namika took part in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2015 on August 29, 2015 . She competed for the state of Hesse with a version of her song Hellwach specially edited for the contest and thus achieved seventh place. The revised version of Hellwach is included on the Hellwach EP , which also contains four more new songs. The track was produced by the German producer team Beatgees , who had already produced music for Lena , Curse and Ann Sophie .

On October 9, 2015, Namika entered the New Music Award music competition with three songs . The contest is the largest national competition for young musicians. The event is organized by the nine young radio programs of the ARD , including the station You FM from Hessischer Rundfunk, for which Namika competed.

On February 5, 2016, the third single from their album Nador was released, Complicated . The song held for nine weeks in the German charts and reached No. 60. On March 18, 2016 crowned the TV channel KiKA the 14-year-old Leon Tina on the show Your Song in 2016 for songwriter of the year . Namika was her music godmother on the show and sings in the winning song Wie Sand at Leontina's side.

Namika was part of the German jury at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 and was therefore jointly responsible for 50 percent of the German points awarded in the second semi-finals and in the final.

On March 29, 2018, Namika announced their second studio album Que Walou . Two singles were released that day, including the main title of the album Que Walou and Ahmed (1960-2002) . The third single Je ne parle pas français was released on April 13, 2018 . Among the singles were two remixes of Beatgees produced, including one with the French rapper Black M . The single remix reached number 1 in the German charts. On May 18th the fourth single I want to miss you was released , on May 31st the fifth single circus was released . On June 1st, 2018 the album Que Walou was presented.

Namika as a guest musician on the 2019 released album MTV Unplugged by Max Raabe the song Kissing can not alone be heard.
