Junimond is one of the most famous songs by Rio Reiser . He wrote the piece together with Martin Hartmann (alias Martin Paul ) for their band Ton Steine Scherben , but it was only released on Reiser's solo album Rio I in 1986 after the band broke up . The song was also released as a single (with Ich leb noch as B-side ), but could not place in the German charts.
The title with the chorus It's over, bye, bye, June moon, it's over, it's over, bye, bye is about overcoming heartache and was Martin Hartmann's farewell gift to Claudia Roth . It has been covered several times , including by the Prinzen , in 2000 by the Flensburg band Echt and in a jazz version by Lisa Bassenge .
After the success of the real version of the song, through which the song first became known to a wide audience, the Sony BMG label released the best-of album Junimond - Die Balladen with a selection from the songs of Rio Reiser. In 2005 the piece was covered by the Belgian choir Scala & Kolacny Brothers and included on the album Grenzenlos . In November 2005 Herbert Grönemeyer sang the title together with other musicians from Grönland Records at the AVO session in Basel.
