Ulla Meinecke (2012)

Ulla Meinecke (born August 14, 1953 in Usingen im Taunus ) is a German singer . In the 1980s she was one of the most successful representatives of the then still rather rare genre “German-speaking pop music”. She writes her own lyrics. She often works with well-known German musicians to set them to music. Her songs deal with everyday stories.

Life

The early years

Growing up in the agricultural area of Wallau (Lahn) on the southern edge of the Rothaar Mountains , Ulla Meinecke moved to Frankfurt am Main in 1966 , where she graduated from high school at the age of 18 . At this point she had already written her first songs. An encounter with Udo Lindenberg in 1976 encouraged her to turn her creative hobby into a profession and to move to Hamburg , where she ran Lindenberg's office. The first LP From dead tigers and wet cats was released in 1977, very much influenced by Lindenberg's influence, who also wrote almost all of the music. Another LP Meinecke Fuchs in 1978 made her known to a larger audience and also led to a growing number of national appearances - partly together with Udo Lindenberg. In 1979 Ulla Meinecke moved to West Berlin .

1980 to 1999

The two following albums Überdosis Großstadt (1980) and Nachtelang (1981) were produced by Herwig Mitteregger . He also composed most of the songs; both became close friends. Mitteregger brought Rosa Precht into Ulla Meinecke's band, for which she encouraged him to write his own lyrics and, among other things , provided Spliff with the song idea for the title Déjà vu. The two LPs If not forever, then at least forever (1983; with the hit Die Tänzerin written by Edo Zanki ) and The Pride of Italian Women (1985), in collaboration with producer Udo Arndt , marked the breakthrough for Ulla Meinecke the German market - including national chart listings. She received the Golden Europe and other awards, including the German Cabaret .

The successful tours at the height of their popularity were documented with the live double album Kurz vor 8 (1986). Two years later their LP was released first time gucken, then sometimes seh'n , followed in 1991 by the album Löwen . On the latter, Meinecke presented cover versions of famous English-language songs and pop titles that she had created. Subsequently, she appeared for the first time with readings in front of her audience. In the mid-1990s, the CD An! whose title is an allusion to the headlights fading in at the beginning of a performance and the simultaneous "fading out" of stage fright. In 1999 she documented her artistic development over the past twelve years on another live double album, this time with the title Kurz nach 8.

Since 2000

After the end of the collaboration with her record company at the time, she released the album Die Luft ist pure on SPV in 2002 . In 2003 she turned her favorite book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer into an audio book under the direction of Günter Amendt - with music by Ingo York , with Meinecke doing all the roles. This brought her first contact with the theater.

Ulla Meinecke and Ingo York (2010)

In 2005 a new CD was released under the title Imoment, and in parallel Ulla Meinecke - Im moment. The book , a collection of texts and stage stories with photographs by Jim Rakete . Her second book, Willkommen in Teufels Küche, followed in 2007 . Splendor and misery of the chaotic , with whom she went on a nationwide tour again, accompanied by guitarist Ingo York.

At the beginning of 2008 Meinecke played theater in Berlin (together with Ben Becker, among others ) - she embodied Eunice Hubbel in Tennessee Williams ' end of the line yearning - and then continued her tour with Ingo York. In April 2008 she produced a three-part radio feature with Radio Jena under the title Welcome to the Lioness's Cave . In 2010 Ulla Meinecke's third book, Unjust like Love, was published with stories. In 2010/11 she played the singer Roxanne in Dietmar Loeffler's Der Schlagerexorzist at the Schlossparktheater Berlin.

In 2012, after Nina Hagen , Ulla Meinecke was again a pop star in 2012 , who acted as an advertising banner for the Yoga Festival Berlin. Your greeting will be reproduced on the homepage of the 8th Berlin Yoga Festival 2012.
