Udo Arndt (born December 4, 1948 in Arolsen ) is a German musician , sound engineer and producer . Arndt lives in Dénia , Spain . Between 1978 and 1990 Arndt produced sixteen albums that were able to place in the German top 10 .

Career

After high school, high school and dropped out of political science and history studies, Udo Arndt and friends from his school band The Safebreakers founded the band Orange Surprise in Berlin in 1968 , which in 1969 became Os Mundi , which released two albums. In 1976 Arndt left Os Mundi and took an internship in the recording studio of the Evangelical Broadcasting Service Berlin / ERD. In order to practice using the technical devices available there, from 1977 onwards he regularly invited Berlin artists and bands to the ERD studio and made free demo recordings for them. Sometimes he recorded concerts of local bands in clubs in West Berlin with a four-track machine.

Word of his talent quickly got around and the photographer Günther “Jim” Rakete , who had just built up his music management in West Berlin and opened the Kreuzberg “factory”, became aware of Arndt. Arndt subsequently worked with several artists from the "Fabrik" for the record companies CBS and RCA, of which Nena and Spliff in particular were sensationally successful. Tonmeister Udo Arndt received one production order after another over the next twenty years, which made him something of a counterpart to Conny Plank in the German music scene .

Udo Arndt has lived in Dénia , Spain since 2004 and only works occasionally with artist friends and colleagues in his own "SOMA recording studio"; "SOMA" is an abbreviation for "Studio of Modern Arndt".
