Curt Cress (born August 11, 1952 in Schlierbach (Brachttal) ) is a German drummer and composer who has been involved in countless productions during his career and has also worked for international stars.

life and work

Curt Cress began his career in 1965 with the Hanau band Last. Later he also played in Hanau with the bands Inspiration Six and most recently in 1969 with Orange Peel , which was officially disbanded the following year, but still comes together for occasional appearances.

Curt Cress has worked on around 12,000 published recordings to date and can be heard on at least 400 million records sold.

Curt Cress has worked as a band member of several formations such as Klaus Doldingers Passport , Atlantis , Spliff , Snowball , Curt Cress Clan and as a guest in numerous studio recordings and live performances by German and international artists, e. B. Falco , Peter Maffay , Rick Springfield , SAGA and Tina Turner . Her own solo releases as drum avant-garde productions followed: AVANTI, SING, BANG, TRIP.

Cress was also known as a producer, u. a. for Uwe Ochsenknecht , Claudia Cane , Heiner Pudelko , Nena , Nina Hagen and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra . He continued to work as a studio musician, for example for Boney M. , Supermax , Hubert Kah , Michael Cretu , Scorpions , Alphaville , BAP , Inga & Annette Humpe , Peter Cornelius , Marianne Rosenberg , Stefan Waggershausen , Udo Lindenberg , Meat Loaf , Freddie Mercury ( Mr . Bad Guy ) and Kurt Baebi .

Cress also made a name for himself as a television and film music composer. He composed the music for the series SK Kölsch , Die Rote Meile , HeliCops - Einsatz über Berlin or for the telenovelas Bianca - Paths to happiness and Julia - Paths to happiness . Cress is one of the composers for the scene music in the series Verliebt in Berlin . He also worked for the crime scene and arranged, among other things, the theme songs for the ARD Sportschau and Wetten, dass ..? . Cress was hired as a playback musician for the feature film Bandits . Katja Riemann then used his movements and peculiarities during the CD production as a template for her portrayal of a drummer. From 2009 to 2010 he was responsible for the music for the ZDF telenovela Alisa - Follow Your Heart , together with Chris Weller and Manuel Mayer .

Cress has been a professor at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater since 2006 ; he has been teaching there since 2004.

He owns CC Holding GmbH, where his companies manufacture media products for music, film and television. The holding company includes FAME Recordings Publishing GmbH, FAME Artist Recordings GmbH, Cress Publishing GmbH and Pilot Tonstudio GmbH.

Curt Cress is married and has three children.
