Geographical location

The municipality is located in the center of the Schleswigsche Geest landscape in the middle of the spacious and sparsely populated quadrangle of the (rural) central locations Bredstedt , Viöl , Schafflund and Leck in the district of North Friesland . The Kammberg ( Kambjerg ) is located in the western part of the municipality . The Ostenau , a tributary of the Arlau, flows on the southern edge of the municipality . history

In the Iron Age , iron was extracted from lawn iron stone in the municipality . The melting furnaces can still be viewed today.

The stone church was built around 1200. In 1771 the windmill was built.

After the annexation of Schleswig-Holstein by Prussia, the area of ​​the parish Joldelund was formed into a parish land municipality . It comprised the four villages of Goldebek , Goldelund , Joldelund and Kolkerheide . On April 1, 1934, the parish rural communities were dissolved, and the village communities have since formed independent rural communities. They still belong to the Joldelund parish today.
