Seeth is the representative of the Stapelholm landscape, in which the three most important types of houses in Schleswig-Holstein meet: the Fachhallenhaus from the North German-Saxon area, the Jutian Querdielen- or Geesthardenhaus from the Jutland-Danish area and the Dutch Haubarg , a further development of Gulf house . The easternmost Haubarg in Germany from 1825 is in Seeth. With a length of 30 meters and a built-up area of ​​370 m², the Stamp house is an imposing representative of the cross-deck houses. With the construction year 1513, the half-timbered house of the former Café Mnich is one of the oldest in Northern Germany. With over 50 thatched roof houses, Seeth offers a diverse and attractive picture for the non-resident visitor.

Seeth has the oldest stork nest with the highest breeding success in North Friesland. There used to be food for at least seven breeding pairs that nested on thatched roofs, chimneys and masts. Since 1990, only one nest on a concrete pole in Westerstrasse has been occupied every year.

General

The community is rural. In addition to a few farms, various craft businesses and shops, there are two galleries in Seeth, one of which is also a restaurant. In addition to guesthouses and private accommodation, Seeth also offers holiday homes in the tourist sector. A local employer runs therapeutic residential groups.

Seeth was the Bundeswehr base and home of the 11th hospital regiment. The Stapelholm barracks are located a few kilometers outside the village and got their name from the Stapelholm landscape . It housed u. a. the inactive hospital regiment 71 and the partially active Marinesicherungsbataillon 3 (1996-2001). On October 26, 2011 it was announced that the barracks would be closed by 2015 at the latest. It was closed in summer 2015. Immediately afterwards, the state of Schleswig-Holstein opened an initial reception facility for asylum seekers on the barracks grounds .

Seeth is crossed in an east-west direction by the federal highway 202 in the section between Rendsburg and Friedrichstadt . It creates a parallel connection to the route of the federal highway 5 running west of Friedrichstadt in the direction of the federal highway 201 . On this section of the route, the state road leads through the villages of the communities Schwabstedt , Winnert , Ostenfeld and Oster-Ohrstedt .

The community has no direct rail link. The nearest train station is in the neighboring town of Friedrichstadt on the Marschbahn . The regional express No. 6 train connection planned and commissioned by the Schleswig-Holstein local transport network runs on this route . From here, there is a connection to Seeth using the bus connections (routes 1064 and 1512). Both are practically a school bus connection / commuter connections that only run for a limited time on school days and at the corresponding times of the day. A clocked bus connection, on the other hand, is via the bus route R149 (Husum – Schwabstedt – Stapel – Erfde). It connects the place from Monday to Friday every two hours during the day and every four hours on weekends to the train station in the district town and its central bus station .
