history
The place was first mentioned in 1457 as Nordstede . The settlement in the area of the municipality is already much earlier. The Söbenbargen (Seven Mountains) testify to this . These are burial mounds from the Neolithic Age which are still visible, but these are only part of several burial mounds.
Numerous border disputes with the neighboring town of Spinkebüll, which formerly belonged to the cathedral chapter of Schleswig , have also come down to us in the 17th century. In 1934 the former neighboring town was incorporated.
On April 1, 1934, the parish district of Viöl was dissolved. Many of their villages, village communities and farmers became independent communities / rural communities, including Norstedt. On December 1, 1934, Norstedt was merged with the neighboring municipality of Spinkebüll to form a new municipality of Norstedt.
politics
Community representation
In the local elections on May 26, 2013, all nine seats went to the constituency AWN. There has been a youth council since 2013.
In the local elections on May 6, 2018, all nine seats were again allotted to the constituency AWN.
mayor
Volker Carstensen (AWN) was elected mayor for the 2018–2023 election period.
Harry Thomsen (AWN) was elected mayor for the 2013-2018 election period. He succeeded Hans-Henning Thomsen (AWN), who held the office for 15 years. Due to the death of Harry Thomsen, Volker Carstensen is now the mayor.
Culture and sights
In addition to a theater group, various associations and local institutions are involved in the cultural field. These include the volunteer fire brigade, the local culture ring, a ring rider association and a local group of the Social Association Germany . The German Red Cross is represented in the community with two local groups, first in the main town and once in the Spinkebüll district.
Economy and Infrastructure
The municipality is predominantly agricultural.
Various businesses are grouped around the Norstedter Kroog , the social center of the village. In the northern part of the municipality is the Norstedt community wind farm, which consists of seven wind turbines. A citizen solar park has been in operation since autumn 2010. The associated open-air facility is located west of the town center on the edge of the Drelsdorf Forest.
traffic
Norstedt is on the Schleswig-Holstein state road 28. It connects the community to the regional highways B 200 in Viöl and B 5 in Bredstedt.
The nearest train stations are in Husum and Bredstedt.
The local public transport operated by Autokraft serves the place with a bus line from Viöl. However, this is largely tailored to school traffic and only runs at the appropriate times and not during the school holidays.
The shuttle bus from and to A. P. Møller-Skolen , a grammar school and comprehensive school for the Danish minority in Schleswig, also stops in Norstedt on the way from Langenhorn to Schleswig.
education
There are no school educational institutions directly in the village. As a rule, the children go to Viöl school . Today this is a community school with an integrated elementary school part. The closest grammar school is in Husum.
