Ahrenviöl ( Danish : Arnfjolde or Arenfjolde , North Frisian : Årnfjål , Low German : Arenfiööl ) is a municipality in the district of North Friesland in Schleswig-Holstein . Besides Ahrenviöl, the municipality has no other districts.

Geographical location
The municipality of Ahrenviöl extends on an old moraine ridge of the Schleswig Geest south directly adjacent to the upper reaches of the Arlau between Husum and Schleswig. The rural central town Viöl is located in a north-north-west direction, about 5 km away (as the crow flies). The Ahrenviöler nature reserve Südermoor is located in the municipality , directly west of the municipality boundary in the area of the eponymous neighboring municipality, the so-called Immenstedter Gehege . To the north-east of the village is the Ahrenviöler trout lake .

history
The place was first mentioned in 1352 as Villa Arenfjold . He is historically in the southern goeshard . The place name refers to Viöl (Dan. Fjolde ) in meaning outside Mark, uncultivated field (see. Old Norse. Fjall for Highland, Mountain ) and Adler (Old Norse. Ari , mdän. Arn , neudän. Orn ). It should be noted that Viöl / Fjolde could originally have referred to not only today's place, but also the surrounding area.
Until the German-Danish War in 1864, the place belonged to the parish of Schwesing ( Svesing Sogn ) within the Duchy of Schleswig, which was part of the Danish state . After the annexation of Schleswig and Holstein by Prussia , a parish land municipality was formed from the area of the parish of Schwesing . In addition to Ahrenviöl, it included the five villages of Hochviöl, Immenstedt , Schwesing , Wester- and Oster-Ohrstedt .
On April 1, 1934, the parish district of Schwesing was dissolved. All of their village communities, village communities and farmers became independent communities / rural communities, including Ahrenviöl.

Ahrenviöl is located off the federal trunk road network in rural surroundings. The North Frisian district road 79 runs through the eponymous village , which branches off the federal road 201 at the school center in Ohrstedt and branches off to the east in the direction of the neighboring town of Ahrenviölfeld.
In public transport Ahrenviöl since August 2019 Rufbusgebiet Viöl day roughly every two hours on the bus traffic in the eponymous rural administrative center connected. The regional bus route R14 (Schnellbus Husum – Flensburg) runs there within the Schleswig-Holstein local transport network .
