Culture and sights

Braderuper Church

The list of cultural monuments in Braderup includes the cultural monuments entered in the monuments list of Schleswig-Holstein.

The early Gothic brick church built around 1240 is characteristic of the townscape . The choir was probably given a new vault in the 15th century. The shape of the building is more reminiscent of Danish than German churches. It has clear forms, the walls shine brilliantly white. The roofs of the nave and the transverse roof of the square tower are covered with red tiles. The oldest piece of equipment in the church is a baptismal font made from Gotland limestone. The altar and the sound cover of the older pulpit were created in the 17th century by an artist from Tondern, who also worked for the local communities, in the Baroque style. The painting from the 16th century, a representation of the Last Judgment that Lothar Malskat and Diedrich Fey renovated in the 1950s, is difficult to see.

In June 2007 a village beautification association was founded with the aim of improving the appearance of the village. In addition, the creation of a village chronicle was started.

economy

Erected and under construction wind turbines at the Braderup community wind farm

The place used to be dominated by agriculture; Even today, 89% of the community area is used for agriculture and forestry. However, more and more businesses from the craft and construction industries emerged. The small sawmill from 1920 became a building materials trade. In addition, the place became a residential community for many commuters who work in Niebüll , Leck , Westerland and Süderlügum .

The  Braderup wind farm with several wind turbines is located in the Feldmark south of the village along federal highway 5 . This was significantly enlarged again in 2006 and expanded in 2014 to include a hybrid storage system with an output of 2.33 MW and a total capacity of 3 MWh. The hybrid storage is operated by Energiespeicher Nord GmbH & Co. KG . The company was also in the realization of Robert Bosch involved.

There are also two biogas plants in the municipality .
