The mill dike of the Mimhusenkoog to the south was examined in 1991 by Dirk Meier. The excavations revealed a low core dike of the 12th / 13th centuries. Century, which was increased several times. All dyke constructions had sunk into the unstable subsoil.

Culture and sights
The Osterhever'sche Kirche, the originally Romanesque St. Martin's Church on a mound, has a chapel built in 1113 as its predecessor. Probably around 200 years later, in the first half of the 13th century, the church that replaced the chapel or to which the chapel was extended was probably built in the Romanesque style. Two smaller windows of this church still exist in the current building, the portal of the north wall and part of the choir room. In 1565 the chancel was expanded to include the apse. Later further extensions and extensions were added, the ridge turret with the bells dates from 1908. The church has the carved altar Christ on the rest from 1520, a historical altar block, carved communion pews, which are dated 1753, and a late Gothic triumphal cross group with Mary and the disciple John, who stand under the cross.
An almost human-sized baptismal angel hangs down from the ceiling in front of the stalls. Presumably in 1822 an old baptismal font was replaced by a baptismal angel. In general, baptismal angels were attached to a rope that was connected to a counterweight via a pulley. As with our angel, an eyelet was attached in the belt region. With the help of a rod with a hook, the baptismal angel could then be pulled down from its elevated position for the act of baptism. So there was more space in the church for church services. Unfortunately, the baptismal bowl that was inserted into the wreath (which the angel holds in his hands) is missing. The baptismal angel was stored on the floor of the church until 2010 and was hung up again after a restoration.
In the list of cultural monuments in Osterhever are the cultural monuments entered in the monuments list of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. This also includes the Madonna on the crescent moon , which was brought back to the church in 2010 after over 100 years. The Madonna had been stored in the Flensburg Municipal Museum since 1902. It was there at the time through the furniture manufacturer Heinrich Sauermann, who had researched works of art in northern German churches that had been removed from churches (after the Reformation) at the beginning of the 19th century. Many of these treasures had already been destroyed because of their Catholic past, some lay unnoticed on the church floors - like this very Madonna.
Under the organ gallery is the Jakob Ulves tombstone depicting a warrior with a flag and a woman in Eiderstedt costume from Eiderstedt's cultural heyday.
The church is open daily for prayer, meditation and devotion as well as for sightseeing.
