Hans Alwin Ketels

Hans Alwin Ketels (born October 19, 1913 in Osterhever ; † April 12, 2017 in Garding ) was a German farmer and politician ( CDU ).

Life

Ketels attended the Hermann Tast School , a humanistic grammar school in Husum , which he graduated with the primary school leaving certificate. He completed an agricultural training, attended an agricultural school and in 1938 became a self-employed farmer in Norderheverkoog . He did his military service from 1935 to 1936 and was a soldier from 1939 to 1945 during World War II . He returned from the war severely disabled; he had suffered severe frostbite in the war against the Soviet Union . In 1951 he took over the chairmanship of the district farmers' association in Eiderstedt and stayed there until 1974.

In 1959 he joined the CDU and was elected to the district council of the Eiderstedt district in the same year ; from 1966 until the dissolution of the district on April 26, 1970 he was district president . In addition, from 1962 to 1972 he was a member of the regional board of farmers' association in Schleswig-Holstein . He was also a member of the board of the German Farmers' Association.

In October 1965, Ketels replaced Kai-Uwe von Hassel on the CDU state list in the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . In 1967 he won the direct mandate in the Husum-Land constituency, in 1971, 1975 and 1979 in the Husum-Eiderstedt constituency. He has served on a variety of committees including the Food, Agriculture and Forestry Committee, the Labor and Development Committee, the State Planning Committee, the Legal Committee, and the Economic Committee. He was a deputy member of several committees of inquiry . At the end of the 9th electoral term of the state parliament in 1983, Ketels left the state parliament.

In July 2010 the CDU honored him for his more than 50 years of party membership.

Ketels was widowed, had five children and lived in Garding .
