The Freiherr vom Stein merit pin is an award given by the Interior Minister of Schleswig-Holstein to citizens who have made a particular contribution to local politics .

history

The award was donated on October 26, 1957 on the occasion of the 200th birthday of the Prussian reformer and statesman Heinrich Friedrich Karl Reichsfreiherr vom und zum Stein (1757–1831) as a non-wearable medal.

Since 2009 it has been awarded in the form of a merit pin. The medal of the needle shows the profile of Freiherr vom Stein and the inscription Karl Freiherr vom Stein on the obverse . The reverse shows the state coat of arms and the inscription for services to the people and homeland in freedom and responsibility 1957. The Minister of the Interior of Schleswig-Holstein .

Award

The district administrators, lord mayors, mayors of independent cities and the mayors of cities with more than 20,000 inhabitants can submit proposals for honors. The award is presented in October by the country's interior minister.
