Peter Eichstädt (born October 17, 1950 in Bad Doberan ) and grew up in Hamburg is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After completing secondary school , Eichstädt first completed an apprenticeship as an advertising and industrial photographer and then studied social pedagogy in Hamburg , which he completed as a qualified social pedagogue . He then worked from 1975 to 1983 as a parenting officer in a children's home . From 1984 to 1992 Eichstädt was deputy head of the youth welfare center of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) in Lübeck and then head of the youth welfare and social network of the AWO Lübeck. From 2004 to 2006 he was managing director of AWO Südholstein.

Peter Eichstädt is married and has two sons and a daughter.

Political party

Eichstädt has been a member of the SPD since 1971.

From 2007 to 2013 he was chairman of the Duchy of Lauenburg district association of the SPD.

MP

From 1982 to 1990 he was a member of the municipal council in Rondeshagen and from 1990 to 2013 he was a member of the district council of the Duchy of Lauenburg . From 1994 to 2001 he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group and chairman of the main committee.

In 2000, Peter Eichstädt entered the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein as a directly elected member of the constituency of Lauenburg-Nord , where he was deputy chairman of the interior and legal committee until 2009. He was the drug policy spokesman for his group. With the 2009 election he came back to the state parliament via the state list of his party. During this electoral term he was deputy group chairman and also spokesman for the group's media policy.

In May 2012, Peter Eichstädt was re-elected to the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament. Since then he has been chairman of the social committee of the state parliament and spokesman for media policy, data protection and addiction and drug policy for his parliamentary group. He was a member of the Broadcasting Council of the NDR, chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein State Broadcasting Council and a member of the ARTE program advisory board in Germany.

In the state elections in 2017, Peter Eichstädt no longer ran.

Awards

In 2005, Peter Eichstädt received the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Medal from Schleswig-Holstein.
