Trapp grew up in a working class in Kiel. In 1952 she joined the working group of social democratic women and was its chairman in Eutin until 1968 . From 1955 to 1970 she was a member of the Eutin city ​​council , from 1959 a member of the city ​​council . At the same time, Trapp was a member of the district council of the Eutin district , temporarily in the function of district president .
