Claus Ehlers (born May 25, 1944 in Emkendorf ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Claus Ehlers completed an apprenticeship as an agricultural master. He has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Sparkasse Mittelholstein since 1986. From 1998 to 2008 he was a member of the supervisory board of the Rendsburg-Eckernförde business development agency. He was also chairman of the supervisory board of Nordkolleg Rendsburg GmbH from 2003 to 2008 . From 2004 to 2014 he was a member of the supervisory board of Vereinigte Hagel Versicherung . He was awarded the Freiherr vom Stein Medal of the State of Schleswig-Holstein.

Claus Ehlers is married and has two children.

Political party

Ehlers has been a member of the CDU since 1969. He was deputy chairman of the CDU district association Rendsburg-Eckernförde and chairman of the CDU state working group for agriculture in Schleswig-Holstein .

MP

Ehlers belonged to the district council of the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district from 1974 to 2006 .

Since 1996 he was a member of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . Here he was deputy chairman of the European committee from 2000 to 2002 and chairman of the agricultural committee from 2002 to 2005. Ehlers was a member of the CDU parliamentary group from 1996 to 2000 and again since 2005. Since 2005 he has also been chairman of the parliamentary group working group for agriculture .

Ehlers is also committed to promoting the Low German language and was a member of the Lower German Advisory Board at the state parliament from 2000 to 2005.

Claus Ehlers has always entered the state parliament as a directly elected member of the Rendsburg- Süd constituency . In the 2005 state elections, he achieved 49.2% of the first votes .

Ehlers was sent to the eleventh federal assembly by the state parliament in 1999 .

In the early state elections in 2009, Ehlers did not run again for the state parliament. His successor in the constituency was Hauke ​​Göttsch , who was also directly elected.
