Silke Reyer

Silke Reyer (born April 16, 1940 in Kiel as Silke Borggräfe ; † November 25, 2011 there ) was a German local politician ( SPD ). From 1986 to 1998 she was mayor of Kiel.

Life

Silke Reyer grew up in the Wik district of Kiel . After completing secondary school , she worked from 1958 to 1962 at the registration office of the city of Kiel and then until 1970 in the legal department of the German Federation of Trade Unions . In 1969 she joined the SPD and from 1970 was a member of the local advisory board for the Kiel district of Mettenhof , where she had lived since 1966. 1974 Reyer ran unsuccessfully for the Kiel council assembly , but moved up in 1977 because of her place on the list. In 1978 she was directly elected to the council. After she was second deputy mayor from 1978 to 1982 and first deputy mayor from 1982, she was elected mayor in 1986. In 1998 she withdrew from politics and no longer ran for local elections.

For her many years of voluntary work in local politics, Silke Reyer was awarded the Freiherr vom Stein Medal of the State of Schleswig-Holstein in 1993 and the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 1999. In 2013 the trail around the Heidenberger pond in Mettenhof was named in her honor, the Silke-Reyer-Weg .

Reyer was married and had a daughter.
