Eckhard Sauerbaum

Eckhard Wilhelm Johannes Sauerbaum (born April 23, 1938 in Königsberg ) is a German lawyer and notary. He was involved in local politics in Kiel.

Life

Eckhard Sauerbaum started school in the spring of 1944. After air raids on Königsberg in August 1944, the grandfather's house in which the family lived was destroyed and they were moved to a sporadically usable accommodation in Kranz . The flight and expulsion of Germans from Central and Eastern Europe from 1945 to 1950 brought Sauerbaum's family to Ulsnis and Schleswig , where he graduated from the cathedral school . Sauerbaum studied law at the Philipps University of Marburg , the Free University of Berlin and the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . After the two exams, he settled in Kiel as a lawyer and notary . In local politics , he was committed to the CDU Schleswig-Holstein . He was elected to the Kiel council in 1966 as a civil member and in 1970 as councilor. From 1978 to 1982 he was also parliamentary group leader and honorary city councilor. 1974-1978 and 1982 to 1985 he was honorary mayor . For seven years he was honorary chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein City Council. He resigned from his office in 1985 and became commercial director of the Kiel Supply and Transport Company (VVK), member of the board of the Stadtwerke Kiel , the Kieler Verkehrsgesellschaft (KVAG), the Schlepp- und Fährgesellschaft Kiel (SFK) and the Müllheizkraftwerk Kiel GmbH. Together with Mayor Norbert Gansel , he ensured ecological orientation and competitive structures for municipal companies .
