Location of the municipality of Bargum in the district of North Friesland | ||
Bargum ( North Frisian : Beergem , Danish also: Bjerrum ) is a municipality on the border between Geest and Marsch in the district of North Friesland in Schleswig-Holstein . The sparsely populated community has been a resort since 2005 and is divided into the districts of East Bargum, West Bargum and Soholmbrück ( Soholmbro ).
geography
East Bargum is a scattered settlement in the Geest. Here is a still working Dutch windmill .
West-Bargum is a clustered village on the march, the church is on a hill in the center. On the Bargumer Berg, which lies to the west of the church, the embankment of the Langenhorner Alten Koog and the Bargumer Koog began and the old dike can still be seen today. On the dike are two Wehlen , water-filled depressions in storm surges occur.
history
The church was probably built around 1250 at the same time as that in Efkebüll. However, Efkebüll went under in the Second Marcellus Flood in 1362. The current form of the Bargum Church dates from the 15th century, the ceiling painting with scenes from the life of Jesus and the Old Testament, as well as the painting of the pulpit and galleries from 1702.
Until the German-Danish War in 1864, the place formed the center of the parish Bargum ( Bargum Sogn ) of the Nordergoesharde within the Duchy of Schleswig, which belongs to Denmark . After the annexation of Schleswig and Holstein by Prussia , the area of the parish of Bargum became a parish land municipality . After the dissolution of the parish land parishes, Bargum was combined with the Bargumer Koog on December 1, 1934 to form the bargum parish.
armed forces
Bargum is a Bundeswehr location. In the southeast of the district there is a material warehouse, which is operated by around 40 employees as part of the Wilhelmshaven material depot . Due to the decisions on the future stationing of the Bundeswehr, the material warehouse on Dbodner Heuweg is expected to be closed in 2018 and the location will therefore be abandoned.
