Location of the municipality of Norderfriedrichskoog in the district of North Friesland

Norderfriedrichskoog ( Danish Nørre Frederiks Kog ) is a municipality on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein in the district of North Friesland .

Geography and traffic

Norderfriedrichskoog is located about 18 km north of Tönning and 20 km southwest of Husum on the north coast of the Eiderstedt peninsula . A few kilometers east of the federal highway 5 runs from Tönning to Husum.

history

The Koog was diked in 1696 under the Privy Council President Magnus von Wedderkop and named after Frederick IV , the then King of Denmark and Duke of Schleswig and Holstein . In 1906 the newly created foreland was fortified by a summer dike , which was further expanded in 1969.

With fewer than 70 inhabitants, according to Section 54 of the Schleswig-Holstein municipal code, the municipality has no municipal council, but a municipal assembly in which all residents who are entitled to vote can take part.

economy

For a long time, no trade tax was levied by the municipality of Norderfriedrichskoog . As a result of this development as a tax haven that is unique in Germany , more and more companies have settled here since the 1990s. Subsidiaries of Deutsche Bank , E.ON , Commerzbank , Lufthansa , Siemens and Lidl, among others , have or had their headquarters in the municipality. Since 2004, § 16 (4) sentence 2 GewStG has stipulated that the assessment rate must be at least 200%, so that many companies have now withdrawn. Due to a coverage gap of 8 million euros in the municipal budget in 2013, an increase in the assessment rate to up to 400% was discussed. Ultimately, however, the municipality decided to leave the assessment rate at 200% for the time being. In 2018, the trade tax multiplier was 336%.
