About this picture

Sollwitt ( Danish : Solved , North Frisian : Salwit ) is a municipality in the district of North Friesland in Schleswig-Holstein . Pobüll (Danish: Pobøl or Påbøl , North Frisian: Puubel , sønderjysk: Påfel or Påvel ) is located in the municipality.

Geography and traffic

Sollwitt is located about 20 km northeast of Husum on the Schleswig Geest . The federal highway 200 runs to the west from Husum to Flensburg .

The Pobüller Moor lies between the districts of Sollwitt and Pobüll.

history

The place name comes from the Danish word for forest (adan. With , ndän. Ved , transferred to niederdt. -Witt ) and the term * Sol in the meaning marshy place, swamp back. The latter part of the name may appear as the name of a region, since Sollbrück and Sollerup are not far apart either. * Sola is also believed to be the old name for the Treene.

On April 1, 1934, the parish district of Viöl was dissolved. Many of their villages, village communities and farmers became independent communities / rural communities, including Sollwitt. On December 1, 1934, Sollwitt was merged with the neighboring municipality of Pobüll to form a new municipality of Sollwitt.
