About this picture

Wobbenbüll ( Danish : Vobbenbøl , North Frisian : Wååbel ) is a municipality in the district of North Friesland in Schleswig-Holstein .

geography

Geographical location

Wobbenbüll is located at the transition from the so-called Hattstedt-Schobüller Geest , a sub-area of the spacious Schleswig Geest , to the Hattstedtermarsch north-west of Husum. The municipality is a very small municipality in terms of area and is on the list of the smallest municipalities in Germany .

Community structure

In addition to the eponymous village , the Höfe- Exclave Wobbenbüllfeld is also located in the municipality. It is located southeast of the main town in the border area between Hattstedt and Husum.

Neighboring communities

Municipal areas bordering Wobbenbüll are:

Hattstedtermarsch
Neighboring communities Hattstedt
Husum (OT Halebüll )

geology

The municipality is located on an old moraine line , which advances from Husum in a north-westerly direction into the North Frisian Marsch landscape area . The heart of this sub-area is the Schobüller Forest , which was formed on this string of hills in the area further south of the formerly independent neighboring community of Schobüll .

In 2016/2017, Wobbenbüll was given a so-called climate dike on the southern outskirts . This is intended to protect the village location on the previously exposed Geest slope in the southern area in the long term, even if the sea level is forecast to rise as a result of global warming .

population

According to the list of places to live on the date of the census on May 25, 1987, of 411 inhabitants in 147 households in the entire municipality, 396 inhabitants in 143 households were in the village of Wobbenbüll. The remaining 15 inhabitants in four households were in the Wobbenbüllfeld exclave,

history

It is possible that Wobbenbüll was founded by residents of the Uthlande who lost their home in the Second Marcellus Flood of 1362.

The place was first mentioned in 1438. The place name possibly means settlement of the Wobbe .

1906/07 was carried out between Wobbenbüll and the island of Nordstrand initially exclusively for coastal protection because of the construction of a low dam. In 1933/35 the "Nordstrander Damm" was expanded to be flood-free and provided with a road. The huge amount of sand required for this was taken from a 27-hectare piece of geest near the village. This site-defining soil extraction point was given the name "Wobbenbüller Schacht".

The western part of the shaft was released for development by the municipality of Wobbenbüll in 1949.

Since 1988 the undeveloped eastern part of the shaft with its rare plants has been part of the "Schobüller Berg" conservation area.

In 1933, the resulting Wobbenbüller shaft served as a film set. Some scenes from the first film adaptation of Theodor Storm's novel "Der Schimmelreiter" were filmed there.

On April 1, 1934, the parish Hattstedt was dissolved. All of their village communities, village communities and farmers became independent communities / rural communities, including Wobbenbüll.

politics

Community representation

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the SPD has had five seats since the 2008 local elections and the WGW four. In the local elections on May 26, 2013, the SPD received 57.9 percent and the WGW 42.1 percent with a turnout of 70.5 percent. The distribution of seats remained unchanged.

mayor

Reinhold Schaer (SPD) has been mayor since 2008. He was re-elected for the 2013-2018 electoral term.

economy

General structure

The community is predominantly agricultural . There is a riding stable in the exclave of Wobbenbüllfeld. There is also a pronounced residential use with commuter connections.

traffic

Wobbenbüll lies beyond the federal trunk road network. Many experience the passage through town on their way to Nordstrand . At the northern entrance / exit of Hattstedt, the North Frisian district road 81 branches off in a westerly direction . It leads directly through the village before coming to the end of the village on Schleswig-Holstein state road 30 from Husum to Nordstrand.

The community also has no direct connection to the German railway network. The closest march runs through the municipality of the neighboring town of Hattstedt to the east without stopping. The closest train station today is in Husum .

Due to its neighboring location to the North Frisian district town, Wobbenbüll is integrated into the HusumBus transport network operated by the Autokraft company every hour (line 6 to Hattstedt). This runs from the Husum ZOB stop, which is within walking distance of the train station .
