Iven Knutzen
Iven Knutzen (also Ifen, Iwen, Iven, Jven , also Cnutsen, Knudsen ; * 1531 or 1532 ; † July 3, 1612 in Husum ) was a farmer , chronicler and cartographer .
Life
Knutzen probably lived as an independent farmer on the Ibenshof named after him in Wobbenbüll , which belonged to the parish of Hattstedt . In old age he apparently moved to his daughter Catharina Oselings in Husum Neustadt, where he died in 1612. He was buried in the Marienkirche in Hattstedt.
According to Peter Sax , he was a farmer , which supports the assumption that he must have been quite wealthy, because he was one of those who carried out the renovation of the Hattstedt Church in 1584 and donated a legacy of 30 Marks Lübsch . According to the translation by Gehre von Rinteln, he described himself as "a househusband (who does not study and practice good honesty)".
His Korte Vortekinge - a brief indication of the time at which Eiderstädt became landlocked with those from the Geest and the Stapelholm countryside, and at what time the new Koege, between the Geestleuten and Eiderstädt, are also the same as what happened to the old Koegen Wisch, Rantrummer, Milstädter, Rademister, Padelecker, Siemensberger, and Lundenberger Koegen, who had a quality from time immemorial, and how they came to the present situation , describes the subject matter dealt with with their long title. The manuscript is dated October 12, 1588. His view that the rich kings were a gift from God and that the regularly recurring storm surges a divine punishment for the arrogance of the residents corresponded to the worldview customary at the time and was also taken up by Anton Heimreich .
The chronicle of the Olde denckwerdige stories, so sick in the famous country Eyderstede, Lundenberger Harde and Nordstrand , was continued by Meves Ovens in Witzwort and three preachers in Husum (Jacob Sax, Peter Danckwerth and Martin Holmer) and is only preserved in their processing remained.
