Dieter Lohmeier

Dieter Lohmeier (born January 24, 1940 in Neumünster ) is a German literary scholar and librarian.

Life

Lohmeier studied German and Romance languages in Kiel , Freiburg and Lyon . His dissertation in 1968 was on the subject of Herder and Klopstock : Herder's examination of the personality and work of Klopstock. He qualified as a professor in 1978 and was director of the Schleswig-Holstein State Library from 1985 until his retirement in 2005 , professor of modern German literature at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and academic supervisor of the Kleine Schleswig-Holstein books series . His focus is the German literary history of the 18th and 19th centuries and the history and cultural history of Schleswig-Holstein .
