Hans F. Rothert

Hans F. Rothert (born April 7, 1936 in Eylau (East Prussia) ) is a German historian and academic librarian .

Life

Rothert grew up in Heide in Dithmarschen . He studied history and Romance studies at the universities in Kiel , Saarbrücken and Lille. After completing his doctorate in Kiel, Rothert became an assistant at the history seminar before moving to the Schleswig-Holstein State Library in 1968 . Until his retirement in 2001 he worked there as a scientific librarian and representative of the library manager for over 30 years.

As a historian, Rothert has held numerous honorary posts over the decades, in which he was often active for the Society for Schleswig-Holstein History (GSHG). In doing so, he continued the tradition of close cooperation between the State Library and the GSHG, for which the directors of the library had worked before him. His activities include a. from 1976 the editorial work for the journal of the society for Schleswig-Holsteinische Geschichte , from 1983 working in the editing of the biographical lexicon for Schleswig-Holstein and Lübeck , which he transferred to the responsibility of the state library. From 1983 to 1995 Rothert was a member of the board of the GSHG, which made him an honorary member in 2001. From his work as a whole, it was summed up, "stimulating impulses for regional historical research emanated."
